Creek Botton Redwoods

As soon as we came off the ridge and hit the creek bottom the redwoods became much larger. It's all due to more water and alluvial soil.

In spite of the difference in size between the ridge top trees and the creek bottom ones the age average is very close the same.

You found my photo-op redwood - LOL

Been meaning to do an odometer reading from that redwood to the Big Tree turn-off. I think it's 2.5 miles give or take a tenth, from Big Tree. That one along Drury is s fine spot to pose someone for a photo.

That's a dandy in your avatar.

The trees in the pics above are right along the parkway. We had a 1.6 mile walk back to the truck and I found those right off the pavement. Including a lot more.

In fact the parkway is one of the better hikes in the whole park.
