Crane T.I.P. question

When building your tie in, is it ok to use aluminum rings? This would be for the climbers rope then steel caribiners for the crane cable.

I haven’t been able to find any specific literature on TIP requirements.

I recently retired a few due to grease getting all over the textiles. Looking to just build my own. Similar to what Gap Arborist supplies sells. Ring/caribiner style.

If you have someone else ride the ball on your TIP, and an issue develops, you are liable if your TIP fails.

If you are riding alone then..... aluminum is okay but, since the weight of steel rings is on the ball, there is no reason to go lightweight.
The steel will outlast aluminum in the wear department.

I Use aluminum rings and have no concern about it. I use my tie in for 24 months if it passes inspection and then replace it. I will replace the textile and reuse the same ring. I havent noticed any wear at all on my aluminum ring and it gets daily use. There is no standard dictating what material it has to be made from. I has to be acceptable to life safety, spliced per spec and rated for whatever load its being used for with the acceptable safety factor.
