crane accident

Based on the picture I think you are right. In land clearance I've never seen a crane being used, so it probably is some type of backhoe.

I've seen these machines work, and I hate to say it , but I'm not too surprised. They usually start by ripping all of the roots out of one side and then push the tree over. Sometimes they need to rip more roots out before they get the tree to give up. Not too stable without the roots!

Isn`t it a matter of using the right tool for the job?
You wouldn`t make a road with a harvester so why do they think they can harvest trees with an escavator?
I wonder what OSHA has to say about this?

In my neck of the woods all the excavating contracters advertive tree removal. Most carpenters, building contracters, lawn mowers, handy men, you name it are tree removal experts. Best part is many of them could be paid with a couple cases of cheap beer.
