I thought all the hardware seemed like quality stuff. They are thick, maybe 1.5 times the average carabiner rod. The olik design seems stronger and more safe than the petzl ring open to me because of the way the two halves are keyed in to one another, the screws just maintain alignment of the halves. I prefer not to have to worry about loose screws in that configuration at all but I'm sure they're safe as long as they are tight.
