Country cottonwood

Rig n wrench in effect, didn't use it very well on that job. I took it out of the equation after awhile to try to get in a better groove. Do you use it? Like it?

I heard that song on the radio around the time I put this together. I picked it as a goof but I do kind of like it. The music video is hilarious, worth a view if you haven't seen it.

Nice work! Love the big front range sky, just that much closer to the sun. You're right... the music worked. I remember as a kid thinking "Iran, Iran's so far away."

Nice job on the tree and video. Liked the music. Blast from the past.

My only critiques are that I'm much more of a one-guy with an undercut COG on the spar, rather than involving 4 people with a pull line, FWIW. To me, pull lines, when you can clearly undercut the COG are a waste of time and energy. Especially, if it is going to be a big log to roll off the rope, trying to avoid cutting the rope, or if its a log you can leave in place, like a homeowner clean-up or dump into the woods. A flick to the side with the rope on a taller spar can prevent a lot of rope under the spar, on the ground. $.02

I mean a zero-man pull, one-man felling operation. Skip the rope. Let gravity do the work. Have the guys doing something else, or nothing else, clear of the drop.

I've fought my share of pull ropes from under big trees. PITA, with no benefit, really.

Alternately, leave a stub on one of the trunks as a pull rope rig-point, so you don't have to rope around the thick spar. Less likely to be trapped.
