Just wondering if anyone can point me to the correct instructions on splicing cougar blue??

Have spliced a few double braid rigging lines and want to have a try eye splicing climbing, thanks for any help

I'm surprised warthog hasn't chimed in on this one. Class1 double braid should work. I understand cougar is very hard to run the final bury home, but I have not spliced any to prove or.disprove that.

Class I double braid would be my guess, also. Donaghy's website says to do so, but the double braid instructions they show are more for marine use. They eliminate the pesky final core bury by just cutting it off. This is often done on marine products, like dock lines. For life support, better to use Samson, Yale, or NER instructions.

I use Samson double braid class one. Spend the time on dialing in the cross over (where core buries into cover and cover buried into core) before you go to sink the bury. I also recommend finding s good anchor point, clip the splice to your saddle bridge, and keep jumping into it to really slam it in. AND keep a nice rubber mallet around to beat up the throat of the splice if it just so happens to give you trouble.

I have nothing to add but I just finished a splice of lightly used cougar blue. Took about an hour and a half... Not too easy, but definitely have a sense of accomplishment.

I never had any major issues but I was splicing cougar blue off one of the first hanks in the country years ago. I heard there was quality issues with the product. That may play a part to the inconsistency with how hard the splice is to run home.
