company won't allow Treemotion

company won\'t allow Treemotion

Hello to all. I work for a large company and was hoping to purchase and use a treemotion saddle at the company through the employee purchase program but it wasn't okayed since it wasn't approved by the safety committee. any words of advice I could use to get it approved?

Re: company won\'t allow Treemotion

Ask to make a presentation to the committee so it may be added. They must review products on a regular basis. Have you enquired about how often they do this?

Re: company won\'t allow Treemotion

Pick an argument. Just pick the proper definition-- the one without heated emotion.

Argument: A reason or set of reasons given with the aim of pursuading others that an action or idea is right or wrong.

What is the posted procedure for having equipment evaluated? Documented results, in a timely manner. Acceptance and denial criteria that is sane and not arbitrary.

And yes, there should be documentation for currently accepted equipment to evaluate against.

Need a guideline? ANSI specs go by a certain format. I'm thinking quite possibly your employer might have or had someone on these boards.

I do not think the European standards boards, by which these next generation products were initially accepted, are that far from acceptible norms on this continent-- and probably well defined.

Now, lets put them standards to use, for inclusion as well as exclusion.

Re: company won\'t allow Treemotion

I had the same issue with a former "company". I had a perfectly acceptable brand new certified amd rated saddle, and the boss did'nt like it, so he said i could'nt use it. It's pointless trying to reason with idiots like these, they are stuck in the past.Let them fall and die in their old and worn out "treesaddles", while you go out and make money with your up to date, certified and rated saddle.

nuff said.

Re: company won\'t allow Treemotion

I have not yet used the Treemotion, it seems to have some nice features. I think a company with a safety committee is being pretty modern. From the other posts on treebuzz about the saddle it seems like some people also have concerns about this saddle. I would think the company might be looking at the large picture instead of just one employee. I like the idea of making a presentation to the committee.

Re: company won\'t allow Treemotion

The company I work for lets you use mechanical stuff if you back it up properly. We have had a lot of trouble with caribeners lately

Re: company won\'t allow Treemotion

CAn you give some details about the biner troubles?

Exercising caution with new gear is prudent. Having a review process in place shows that the company has plans for incorporating new things into use.

Some of the biners start out ok but once they wear a little they lose their posi-lock action

I'm having trouble with two of my Petzel Am'D biners. The ball lock is not rotating. I've lubricated them buy no luck. They show very little wear.

Re: company won\'t allow Treemotion

The biners are wearing on top of the sleeve and the first puull down action is not needed when this happens.

Re: company won\'t allow Treemotion

TreeCo, they're not the recall aluminium sleeve Petzl Ball Lock are? If not, do as The Tommy D says but lube with dry graphite powder as it tends to attract less dust debris and still penetrates well (ooerr!!)
