chipper knives torque

Just bought a 200xp bandit. Bought it from a heavy equipment dealer that took it in on trade for large bulldozer. The chipper was not used very much. However, I did not receive any manual with the chipper. I just serviced it, as I have ran it now for two weeks and have chipped a lot with it.
I flipped the knives and was wondering about what the torque was for them. I tried looking it up, but couldn't find anything substantial. Saw one video of a guy who said to torque around 125 lbs. That is what I did. It just seams like it should be torqued more. Anyone run one that could give me the correct lbs of torque? The machine is a 99.
I appreciate the help folks!!

Royce, I don't know a thing about them. However let me ask....."Are you sure they are the bolts that came from the factory since you got it slighty used?" I only ask because bolt torque specs will vary depending on grade. They will also vary depending on material, finish and if they are dry or lubricanted when installed. Obviously diameter and pitch matter but I am sure that is the same.

I believe that's right...probably 1/2". I've had my torque wrench set at 70-80 forever based on the manual. Mine is a '97 200XP.

Royce, here's a good vid to watch. They lift the yoke on the chipper for some reason but I've never had to do that. Good info here though...

Great info guys. I have them for 125 right now. All I know is they came off real easy. Tree Logic, I watched that video. Great info. That is the machine I bought. Has the hydraulic lift cylinder. Thing is great for chipping wood.
Anyways. I will get the manual from BB. Thanks for your help guys.

I remember bb making a video about those machines years back stating they put the knives on with hand tools at the factory. We do have 1 200 bb still but not used much anymore since the 1590s showed up. Just rememeber to swap out the bolts and nuts. Seems to me they recomend bolts after 5 torques and nuts after 3. Fastenal can get all the hardware if not already in stock.

Manual for 1890/1990 Calls for 180 ft pounds and the anvil at 75 ft pounds. Call bandit, I would make sure you get it right, loose knives could be catastrophic.

And what craneguy said, make sure to replace hardware.

Mine is a 2000-- 5/8" bolts=180 ft/lbs.

Tried to upload a scan of the page in the manual, but file was too big  Maybe if I had better computer skills...

Congrats on the chipper.

What happened to the model 100 with the cummins engine you bought for $4500 back in June?

I sold the bandit 100 to buy something bigger. It was just taking way too long to chip. Plus, it didn't chip wood that great. In the beginning it seamed like it would be a decent chipper. I needed something that would allow me to chip wood. The 100 would really only chip about an 8" piece.
