Chipper Insurance

I'm looking for a new carrier to insure my chipper. Progressive will not insure chippers. Any thought?

Thanks,

Look into inland marine insurance. That is going to be you best option for covering the towed equipment like a chipper. You can also add skid loaders, stumpers, attachments, saws and the like to the policy. It can also be written to cover rental equipment when needed as well. Who ever carries you GL policy should be able to help you with getting a policy written or who to get it from. I personally wouldn’t recommend tying it to your GL policy but some guys do. I think we write 4 different checks to 4 different ins cos for our different required policies. And none of them offer a better rate if we lump it all together, on the contrary rates would be worse.

Inland Marine. Had a good one with Auto Owners for all my bobcats and stuff but they wont cover the chipper. Progressive covered the chipper until they realized that they were covering a $45,000 piece of equipement as a trailer for $400 per year then dropped the chipper. The only chipper inland Marine that I can find is with a $5000 deductible which is too high of an exposure for me. I want $1000 or better yet $500.

We go through an insurance broker locally and this is the policy he found when the Hartford dropped the inland marine line.

You web site is a rabbit hole of circles! Just looking to see if you cover Pennsylvania?
Sounds exhausting, I'll let the IT guy know.

Our preferred markets aren't in Pennsylvania yet. Rick Weden is an agent out there that specializes in tree care. Have you checked with him? NIP and ArborMax are two good programs if you are in the $5,000/yr and up range.

Ins for 5k a year yes but arbormax requires 25k minimum premium for WC. Met a guy at TCIA (Bob I think) but again he never got back to me, so I was stuck with SWIF for my WC which SUCKS!
