I have been really interested in finding one of these trucks ready to go like this. My question is how well it pulls when loaded down with chips and the chipper on the back. My Ford has a higher GVW and a 7.3 Powerstroke and it is a dog going up hill with my Vermeer BC1230 which is like 7500 lbs ish?I like the size, wheelbase and storage on your truck though. Plus it is just really cool looking. I don't NEED another truck right now, but this is what I think I am looking for. Just concerned about the weight capacity, power and braking.

I've owned several of those cab overs and absolutely love them. I've always wanted one of the 4 wheel drive fuso's. Anyway @fastbub they have no problem handling or stopping heavy loads, but depending on what model year your Powerstroke is, it will have approximatly half the horse power. And they drive like it to. In my opinion this truck wouldn't be ideal if you wanted to pull a big chipper around doing removals, but if your pulling around a 9" chipper doing mostly pruning this combo can't be beat. You really need to drive one of these to appreciate the maneuverability and visibility. Where they lack a little in power they more than make up in other areas.

Yes I definitely have a Powerstroke. It is a 99 F450. I am also coming from replacing my moderately modified 12v cummins with a 5 speed. It would pull hard no matter what I hooked it to. Now I have a stock 7.3 Powerstroke that is hooked to the 4r100 auto. So what feels like a dog to me might be fine for others.
I have driven a lot of the 2 wheel drive Isuzu cab overs with the 4 cyl. Turbo. Just loaded down as a box truck though. I never towed with one. I was just thinking with the lower horsepower and GVW it might actually be a step down from what I am running.
That being said I am still kind of interested. I might need a loaded test drive though............with some hills.

We have a 7.3 Powerstroke in a 2000 550 and a Isuzu NRR 5.2 4-cyl turbo. They both pull our trailer with mini and spiderlift (total of around 8-9000 lbs) with a full load of chips.

My Morbark Model 13 weighs #6500 and with a full load of chips on hills its slow but not under-powered. The Mistsubishi is not built for speed its built for work. As far as braking the truck has a Jake brake and with electric brakes on the chipper its no problem. The truck has a 12,000# GVW which I have always thought was too low. It should be more like 15,000# but it is what it is. I have NEVER been weighed by DOT and have been pulled over several times in the last 16 years. I agree the truck looks cool!

Might not haul in a hurry, but that truck will definitely haul a full load and the chipper. As long as the brakes are made the weight I think that truck is awesome.

I haven't looked it up yet, but no way that thing has a jake. An exhaust brake, possibly, but not a jake, and there is a HUGE difference in stopping power.
Don't get me wrong, an exhaust brake is definitely a nice addition.
