check out this splitter

That is real nice. But that's white ash he's splitting let's see some oak splitting. Or something with a knot in it.

Jim, that looks pretty slick. Looks like you could beef up the mass in the head, and the armature and return spring to make a heavier unit to deal with denser and knottier species.

As I recall you were recovering from a recent hand injury. Was that how you hurt your hand, Tom? And, more importantly, how's the recovery going?

Coming up to the 2 year anniversary, 12/15/09.

After 4 surgeries in '10 I've had a year to 'recover'. There hasn't been an improvement after the last surgery, 8/10. there is a knot of scar tissue between my pinky and ring knuckles. Pinky sticks over to the side...not quite like a 'tea-cup finger' but almost ;) Think of taping a softball into the crook of your elbow. Now, try to close your arm. That's about how well my pinky closes. I drop things once in a while. So far, touch wood, no injuries or broken tools. My DeWalt cordless tools have all dropped out of my hand at various times too. Silky's out of the tree is scary!

Next week I have an appointment with the workers comp doctor so that they can decide my level of injury. After that they'll present some sort of compensation offer. After that...likely to be a fight for more compensation.

Sorry to hear about your hand, Tom. I hope you recover. My father (RIP) had some frostbite damage in his left pinky which made him put down the violin for good. Sad. Take carfe of that the best you can.
