Business consultant

Hey guys,

Long time lurker here.. I am looking for some information on obtaining a business consultant who's really familiar with the tree care industry. Been in business for 25 years, most of those years owner/operator. Within the last 5 years, I have pulled away from the field end of work, for various reasons, but mainly because I needed to focus on growing and selling work for two crews.

Anyhow, had a set back from a work comp claim about year ago, and it was a wake up call for me that I need to step up my game. Looking for someone who can help me develop a longer term business plan, help with putting safety programs into play, etc... Do any of you have any advice on where I would be able to find someone who could assist? I am a member of TCIA, so I will check there, but thought maybe someone here had some ideas.

Not a business consultant, but my boss just "retired" after 40 years after selling the company. (that means he's still puttering around) We're in the Bay Area too, good company with a 22 crew size, it's a solid place that I'm not looking to leave anytime soon. Safety is serious here, they've had two serious work comp claims that they bounced back from (and used to improve safety). I could ask him if he would be interested in sharing his knowledge. He can also direct you to the business folks that he uses.

If you're interested send me a direct message and I'll reach out to him. I know this isn't a business consultant, but it might be an intermediate step to get there, from someone who's been through all that. As to whether you would compensate him...I can leave that up to you guys.

We use Live With Purpose Coaching out of Conestoga PA, wrong coast for you, but I know they can consult via zoom and telephone, so it might be something that could work out for you? If you’re interested, send me a private message and I can pass along contact information and my name to use as a reference.

A company I worked for had a great experience working with Travis Vickerson who was at that time with TCIA. I’m not sure his current location or position. He did some business training with the admin at the company, which I heard went very well, and did some on site training which was a great slice of humble pie and kick in the butt for yours truly. He also taught our CTSP training. He is certainly a phenomenal educator and trainer in the biz. Specifically for your inquiries, more the biz management side, I can’t speak to that directly but like I said, I heard good things.
