boots

Second Mark13y.....although I would kick it up a notch and recommend the Rapace version which were designed for crampon use...a bit stiffer and great with spurs.....

I've been smitten with the 10" linemans from thorogood but they don't make them anymore. Gonna try out the hoffman dri-line boots and see how that goes.

Used the Scarpa Fuego for the first time today. Good spike boot but man are they heave compared to what I'm used to. I spend more time on spikes now than I have in years. The back of my ankle on my Achilles has been bothering me from the spur straps so I have to get something beefier. So far so good. Little hot and don't feel the tree as much as I did in light weight boots. Still have the LaSportiva low tops for pruning jobs. We'll see how they do as I break them in.

I bought a pair of scarpa's and found them more comfortable than my pair of linemans boots. I used to change boots on the job as the tasks changed between pruning and removals. Now I just wear the same boots all day. Definitely worth the money.

the pumori is an awesome boot. The best of both worlds, no need for seperate boots for pruning and spur work. I used to have a pair of asolo fugitives for pruning and a pair of carolinas for spur work, this boot meets in the middle.

I might have to make a switch since the hoffmans are back ordered until middle of june. I looked at the pumoris and I wanted to know 2 things... Are they too hot in the summer and how long do they last for work?

Hoffman is not known for their customer service, IMO. Sometimes I wonder if they actually carry any real stock.

But my boots were worth the wait, for what it's worth.

Too hot in the summer? I don't think so. So far I have had these boots 6 months. We all know how rough tree work is on boots and there is still plenty of sole, no rips, tears, or cuts in the rubber that runs around the boot...and is not pealing at all. Thus far, they are working great. Very stiff when you first get them. 2 weeks to wear them in nicely I'd say.

If you are interested in those pumoris, look for coupon codes online for backcountry.com....they ended up costing me well under 200 after I did some research. Best of Luck

theyve held up well so far like mike was saying, 5 months so far and i feel like ill probably get another year out of them. i paid 150 for them on sierra trading post when they had a sale awhile back. i have a pair of asolo synchros that ive had for a year and a half and stopped using them for the past five months due to these boots and they still have 6 months of tread life left and are doing well on the uppers and seams. the soles are usually good for a year and a half of 5-7 days a week of work.
