We have 3 crews and we run Echo 620Ps with 24” bars as our primary ground saws. We are happy with the price point, especially with their fleet program. We have a Stihl 440 and a 460 that we’ll keep longer bars on (28 and 36”) for the bigger stuff. The 440 just took a dump. I bought an Echo 7310 to replace it. Seemed like a good idea at the time. The crew hates it. They’d rather use a 620 with 24” bar to cut a 40” stump than the 7310 with a 32” bar. I could downsize the bar, but I think they’d still hate it, and it’ll cost nearly $200 for a 28” bar and chain for it. So I’m thinking I’d rather try to sell the saw and just get another Stihl. We don’t have any good Husky dealers around here, and I never got into them, so I pretty much only run Echo 620s and Stihl equipment.
If I buy new, I think I’ll just get the 661 with a 36” bar. Seems silly not to upgrade 19cc for $160. I’d be happy to get something used, but I’m also a little leery about that especially since I’m not a mechanic. The price and backstory would have to be good.
Just posting here to see if anyone has any feedback on any of that. Thanks for taking the time!
