BEST adjuster for pitchy rope lanyards?

Anyone?
....anyone?

I've always strayed away from cammed adjusters. Always preferred hitch and pulley and always done the most of my work in hardwoods, now that's changed. This pitch bs is getting to me. Imma gon' lose it. Straight to the moon, Alice.
Help me out, fellers.

It's an f'er with pitch. Must unweight and push it through. I'm thinking a basic rope grab would be the way to go. I'm spoiled by this cammed device that slides fully weighted.
I have a Gibbs klimair that I will try using again. I'm thinking one must have a dedicated pitch bitch (lanyard) for those sappy climbs.

Try a chafe sleeve over your lanyard . Could help with blatant build up. Try a fatter hitch cord /or of almost or equal size to the lanyard line.. if it gets real shitty at a point in the climb I've taken a wrap off my hitch and the pitch still creates enough friction..never mind that's my trick no one dare try that..;)

I use the Petzl Zillion on my lanyard full time. I like it but just like the Zig Zag you do need to pay attention to the possibility of cross loading the accordion.

Brilliant.

 those things sketch me out, Frank. I see you and Gu get on great with them. To be honest.. mechanicals sketch me out a tad. Don't know why. Are they more likely to disengage with a bump than a hitch? Dunno. Doubt it. Irrational I guess.

The Trango Cinch is the best thing I've found. It works a lot differently than other adjusters, so takes a bit of fiddling with it to figure out how it works (you can adjust it while weighted, using either the lever or by tipping the body to let out slack, or pull on tail go move in like other devices). Cleans up with solvents. Adjustable while weighted and works in pine pitch are its real claims to fame. I have a Zillon, too... but I don't use it in pine trees. It works fine, but I don't like having to clean that one up afterwards. Cinch works best on 10mm Beeline or Armorprus lanyard, or any 11mm doublebraid / kernmantle rope lanyard.

Short lanyard I use on right side of harness... Cinch on 11mm SuperStatic... pic taken when I made it. Some people like it on left side, use their thumb to flip lever up so you can pull back to adjust. I like it on the right side, so I can grab the lever with first 3 fingers and pull it up and back. You can also rotate the body forward to release it, but using the lever is much smoother and gives finer control. I think they sell for about $75 if I remember correctly.

I also run a zillion and don't have too many problems with pitch. I do quite a bit of work in white pines and haven't really had any problems with the zillion. Saying that I am aware of where I run my lanyard when possible but obviously you can't always keep it off of the pitchy spots. I would say if you are looking for a bomber proof adjuster go with a cam style adjuster if your lanyard is getting really nasty with pitch.

Petzel Macrograb camed adjuster in 5/8 to 3/4 with a 5/8 inch sreel core flipline is what I use all the time. When in pitch it takes a lot of pitch to even slow it down much.
