Hey all you guys in RI. I am lookin at a '98 bandit 200 xp in Johnston,Ri that has been refurbished by the current owner. He had two but one is gone. He has no title. In mass I need a title to register and ultimately insure. Is it the same in Rhody or do you not need to register or title your chippers. That is his story. Supposedly it is an old Lewis machine but this guy seems a little shady. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm in Ohio. We don't have to tag our chippers here. I don't have titles for any of my chippers and bought most of them new. I did get "Certificates of Origin" with a couple chippers, but they are probably lost by now!
I hate dealing with shady people... Contact Lewis on Monday and see if the story pans out. The repercussions of buying a stolen chipper would suck!

ask the guy for the numbers to register the chipper and also contact lewis. If he can't come up with them, well there might be a problem.

hey is it the old guy that sandblasted the old lewis tree chipper (the welded numbers on the side) says he was a cell tower painter.
he says worth 38000 new, now 7900 I looked at that machine two weeks ago.
