attachment settings

im not sure exactly where to post this so I will put it here. my comments are for the administrators of the site.
When clicking a link to open an attached picture, is it possible to have this open up in a new window rather than directing you from your current page. ?
Is this something i can set in my prefrences? or is the whole site set up that way?

I use Internet Explorer, with IE you can right click on the attachment then click 'open in new window'.

I agree. I'm used to virtually every other forum where attachments open in a new window. After looking at them I simply hit the 'X' in the top right to close the window. When viewing attachments here I ALWAYS end up closing my browser at some point, as a result of habit.

I didnt know about the shift shortcut!
Ill use that i guess, Im w / Brian, out of habit when viewing on off site link or photo I will most often accidently close my browser out when finished.
Still being on a dialup, sometimes attachments take a while and in a new window I can continue to surf thru threads while it is loading.

Not a big deal, just a nuisance to me I guess.

That one got me the first coupla times (that's wisconsin for Couple of times). I quickly made a habit of opening link in new window....gotta love that right button!! (unless you are using a Mac, in which case instead of right clicking, you click and hold it down for like half a second, then you get the option to open in new window!)
