Ash Trees

Some of the few Ash trees left in Northern Indiana. If you’re ever in the area it’s worth the effort to stop and walk the campus of Notre Dame. The tree variety is incredible and they have some amazing mature trees. This row of carefully preserved Ash trees brightened my day after a tough week.

I’m pretty sure the only healthy mature ash tree in a 20 mile radius is parked in my next door neighbor’s yard, 30 feet upwind of my pool.
I shan’t begrudge them, I hope it outlives all of us. The tree was probably there first anyways.

Sometimes when driving around the area I think to myself it’s a shame that they don’t put more effort and money into preserving town trees and stuff, at least around here.

Honestly the only pruning and maintenance I’ve ever seen done is the power company hacking the trees back from the power lines.

Could be wrong, maybe they do take care of some. But there probably just isn’t enough man power or budget for it. Removal and hazardous trees take priority.
