ART BlackBird for "MRT and SRT"

My recollection is ART has a long history with mechanicals. Likely simply their next evolution. I've never got a good look at lockjack etc internals to figure them out.

Omg I want that. I love how you pull from the middle of the device to descend, so much closer to you. This climber reminds me of Napoleon Dynamite…

Very slick looking device.

LOL.

I was going to ask if I'm the only one who doesn't make a habit of passing the saw behind my back for most cuts.

But, yeah, that looks like a nice device. Seems like there was a rush of new devices several years ago. Then a lull. Now: this, Reg's, Buckingham's... I've been holding out for a next generation Unicender...but this could break my bank first!

Great looking device. Looks un-influenced and original, which is impressive. Slick video, but Im guessing with the most compatible and brand new lines in favorable working conditions. Nothing wrong with that for what they are trying to achieve in this unveiling. German engineering is generally pretty great and thorough. I'd definitely like to see more or one up close.

May be what I'm looking for.
I'll let the real world reviews come out first, instead of relying on an ART commercial ....LOL

I do agree with all the above posts. Dude is an excellent climber. Blackbird has some very cool features and, I too, have always been keen on ART. Loves some German over engineering. Means it's built tough.

The Throttle is out for me. Leaves the tried and true ZZ, a BDB, or this shiny black new toy to pick from. Of coarse there's Reg's creation that might make the list.

Time will tell.

The spiderjack 3 video also was a very “holy crap look at that guy flow the tree like water from the sink!” Looked like it may have the stiff installation similar to the throttle but less forceful since the cams appear to be smooth and not heavily channeled like the throttle.

any reason you left Unicender off your list?

There's a much closer look at the Art Blackbird here (starting about 2:57 in the video) - upper cam configuration SRT/MRS is slick as heck . . . and they talk about an adjustable cam.

Quizzical addenda: Arbsession's webpage and I think Treetools, say that the BB can be used for two person rescue but I believe it is mentioned in the Augsburg video that this is for MRS - for SRT you need additional friction? I really do wish mfgrs wouldn't just throw out a new shiny thing but would go over all the use cases, rope compatibilities/ recommendations, etc. esp. at this pricepoint. And sap . . .
