I'm sorry, but I had to post this here. Too many good business principles to let go unknown.

Well, you certainly got my attention.

And in that style of an old man-easily-distracted, let me add what I found while wandering through your YouTube recommendation.

I'll explain after a bit what was important to me in the thread you started, but first take a look at this video as my Number 1:

----------------------

Then another as Number 2:

-----------------------

And my re-listing your original video as Number 3:

----------------------

1. Don't give up.

2. Have the courage to step aside.

3. Pass on any wisdom you have stumbled across for those next in line.

----------------------

I'll stop at 3 Mutters because I'm generally considered long-winded anyway, and people will be surprised at my self-control. (Please note that this exactly fits Mutter 2.)

Stopping at 3 also fits Mutter 3.

And lurking in the wings in this thread, will be some additional posts that tie back to Mutter 1 about what I intend to finish...

PS: For those who don't like what I write generally, it's okay. Wisdom might include not taking some things seriously.

Re: Are you the \"Lone Nut\" ?

Yep. Your video was much more inspiring than mine.

I lured people in for a laugh. You lured me in and I nearly had some "allergies" kick in.

Re: Are you the \"Lone Nut\" ?

Thanks Jamin. this was one of those 'aha' moments for me. I liked it. It rings true. I'm going to remember this one.

Bob's vids are appropriate for our work too. I know climbers with much more natural talent than me hold themselves back for fear of getting judged. For fear that they won't be awesome the first time they try something. I understand. I am far more afraid of looking like a goof than of heights or saws or something. But it's still a fear, no different from the 'freeze up' we are discussing in another trhead. If you can't get past that, you can't do this job. So I go and do it, fear in hand.

I'm thinking...I can do this...but I'm not gonna be god's gift to arboriculture when I do it the first time, second time, or who knows how many times. But I can do it, properly, safely and in good time. So, I do. And soon, faster than I think, my 'limit' is just a stepping stone and I'm onto bigger things.

This job just rocks that way!
