Not one person do you learn it all from. It requires often several influences from a variety of sources. When working for the family business over twenty years ago I had the privilege of working with Eugene Hendrickson. He at the time was pass retirement but the company didn't have anybody that could replace him so we kept him on. Know body wanted to work in Pt. Arena because it was known as little Siberia. Nobody knew the territory either except Eugene.
What a wealth of knowledge was gained working with him. Old school meets new school. Eugene will always be on my mind each and every time I work with trees. From learning to splice three strand to adjusting my lanyard to sharpening my hand and chain saw. He knew it all you just had to make time to get the lesson.

If you ever get the chance read his book "Tree Climbing can be FUN Sometimes" out of print but their are still some on people's shelfs.

Truely an Archival Beauty......
