Anyone in Charleston, WV? Local only, selling everything (custom 2511t; ported g660; rigging kits Safebloc xrings on cool slings, bullrope etc)

I hate posting this…but I cannot just unload such gear via Facebook to some lucky local :/

TL;DR-- I’m selling ALL of my equipment, tomorrow, will not ship, am hoping I can find someone from here because I know I’m gonna take a big loss and I’d prefer the person who gains to be someone from here, either someone I recognize or someone that’s endorsed by a veteran/moderator (I’ll be back on with my real account once I get wifi, only have cellular right now!) “My loss / your gain” type situation :/

Something happened a couple months back on a job-site that really shook me and sadly I have not been able to shake it...I’m still plenty capable but I’ve decided to “hang up my spurs”, my aim for years has only been ‘rig more&bigger’, I’ve had a great time but am almost 40 and am done I can’t continue progressing with the confidence I had before and if I’m not 100.0% I can’t in good faith be climbing professionally. My loss on this sale will be someone’s gain, and I hope it can be someone from this board (or someone endorsed by someone on this board) To be clear I don’t mean a new member (unless a veteran is vouching!)

I’m literally about to load my gear & check-out of the hotel I’m currently at, going to Charleston WV, expect to get there late tonight or early tomorrow (coming north through Beckley)

I was going to just sell quickly through Facebook, probably will need to considering how sparsely populated WV is, but figured I’d post here so hopefully a Buzz member can get first chance.

I’ll list most of the better stuff below. Am hoping for an OK price but I know that, in this context, that is a low%….this is “OBO” for sure!! I’m also OK (even eager for) any moderator input, from proving who I am, providing proof of my ownership, my ISA membership my insurance info (Evanston) whatever’s necessary.

I don’t really know the norms as I’ve only bought gear, and buy new, so am sorry that this isn’t “a regular” post!

2511t, customized, under 1yr old w/ receipt. 12” b&c, have a few extra / new / generic chains for it

cs590 that’s turning over but won’t run, carb is at 1&1 but OEM says 1.75 for H&L and I can’t get him going so as-is but literally just crossed 1yr warranty this month (have receipt), it’s ported, skidplate, XL dogs, 20” OEM setup and an “A-” quality 36” skiptooth Forrester B&C

clone/Holzfforma white g660 with Hyway popup top-end, some OEM parts like starter assembly and Elasto, wears a 32” Oregon B with full house RS33

Fiskars polesaw quite new :P

Ropes & anchors – obviously “no warranty” on this stuff, I love my splice-work but am not warrantying it!

Safebloc on 7’ ultrasling

~8’ long, 3/4” polydyne sling with an XL on each endorsed “eye&eye” sling love this one!

“double-headed” (2 Lrg x-rings) on 5/8 T-REX, ultrasling splicing

None of my hanks are that large...but good condition!!

~60’ of 5/8 polydyne

~75’ of ½ polydyne

~85 or 100’ of mercury

I’m sure there’s more...I’m not going to sell helmet, spurs, PPE or harness, or any ascenders/cam’d hardware.

Thanks for your interest, and apologies to moderators for any annoyance this kind of sale may cause, I’m obviously OK with you guys removing it I just wanted to post here 1st. Am very eager for as much moderator (or veteran member) help with this as possible/necessary (I think it’d be helpful, but understand potential reasons for wanting to be hands-off!)

Air cannon is very capable!! I am sorry but uploads are literally 1% by 1% and keep getting errors I can't spend more time on this until i pack & check out I should be back to finish uploading in about 1.5-->2.5hrs

Thanks i appreciate that! I am glad my phone seems to be reliably connecting to the world now lol but worst rainy weather possible -- better than having no connection ('had' both, neither worked or was worth fighting with- did not know such bad service existed, there's actually a straight up "blackout zone" in East KY/West WV for miles & miles)

I’m curious what the deciding factor was behind this too. I really want to encourage you to share some details about what went wrong. It’s likely others can learn from this. I get it, it’s embarrassing to talk about mistakes and accidents. Maybe in hindsight it seems like something should’ve been glaringly obvious, but do keep in mind that a lot of the membership here and pretty much all of the staff/ moderators have little or zero tolerance for shaming people that show the courage to fess up to their mistakes. It takes balls, and I’ll always respect that.

Did you ever end up getting some training under the eye of an experienced working climber, or go work for a busy local tree service?

I hope I don’t sound like I’m attacking you, I really try hard to always be as respectful and friendly as possible, and I don’t want you to feel insulted by this, but I’ve been a bit concerned for you since you first showed up here. The vibe I would often get was you would get overly focused on certain aspects, like rope elongation while not giving much thought on ways to negate the cons of a not-so-dynamic rope. That’s just an example. You seem to like to add more components to a system than is necessary, and make tasks more complicated than they need be. Gear is cool and fun, I’ll be the first to admit it, and I’m no stranger to trying out a different idea just for the hell of it, even though it adds another breakable link to the chain, but I worried that you may have missed a lot of the basics and tried jumping right into the most complex methods, some of them seemingly off the top of your head. I might misremember here, but I believe you’ve stated that the vast majority of rigging in this industry is negative rigging, free falling pieces to be caught hard on a rope. I wonder if any of these dynamic rigging pieces you worked on had nice strong overhead branch unions. Just wondering really.

Have you removed a few trees with just a rope and the tree itself making up the entirety of the rigging system? There’s much to be said for the Old School, without it, there would be no foundation to the New School. I’d wager there’s easier solutions to some problem cuts you’ve struggled with.

I’m sad to see you walk away from this gig that seemed to bring you a lot of fascination and enjoyment. I hope you’re doing well.
