Any 501C3 non profit orgs in our industry?

You might look into the First Response Team of America, not sure if they’ll take equipment donations and they’re not tree specific, but they’re a great non profit. I worked with them a bit several years ago, and I know two of the founding members. You can find them online at www.FirstResponseTeam.org

As we get to the end of the year I'm looking to make some charitable gifts. What are some of the best non profits in our industry? Do any of them do training and take donations of hardware or equipment?

Thanks
The Crossing is an alternative High School in Indiana that runs a tree service with their students to teach them job skills. Our company takes interns from them and hires their graduates. It’s an amazing program that actually teaches teenagers the basics of our industry. I’d be happy to share even more if you’re interested.

That’s great. There need to be more groups like that one, for sure! The state prison system here in PA has a tree care program. I spoke to the lead person last year about going out there as a guest instructor/speaker, but it hasn’t happened yet - COVID seems to have gotten in the way.

I would love to see more colleges/STEM programs start teaching tree care, maybe that would legitimize our industry a bit more, get away from the “crazy monkey with a chainsaw” perception we have, and get us into the skilled trades where we belong - and perhaps generate some interest in our industry for the youngsters of today too.
