After being used for a chip truck since it was bought new in 01. My f 450 has got an extremely worn out set of springs. I'm considering replacing them with air bag suspension being as how I haven't been able to find a new set of leaf packs at a descent price. Has any one had any experience with putting airbags in a 1 ton dump like this. If so how'd it work out. Thanks

A couple of my buddies have put them into single wheel trucks. The important thing to remember about the air bags is they are really only an assistance to the springs. If your springs are completely worn out I would imagine the bags wouldn’t last for long carrying the entire load.
There is a suspension place in Lancaster city Pa (I don’t know it’s name) that guys around here have used to get spring stacks. I’m not sure on their pricing but some of the guys around here are pretty cheap. I’ll see if I can’t get it’s name.

Awesome thanks!

I am not sure about the 450 but I know Kelderman makes a full on replacement air bag suspension for the 250 and 350, which eliminates the springs and works like a big rig suspension. I have been thinking about putting it on my rig.

I recently purchased a 2005 c4500 4x4, the original owner had it upfitteded with a dump body, plow and firestone air bags. when I purchased the truck they were disconnected. Used the truck for a while before I had time to look into them. I simply hooked them up to a presta air valve mounted to the subframe “simple simple” Aired them up with the compressor they leveled the truck completely reguardless of the load, truck drives like a dream. I highly suggest doing what your are thinking. This is a simple install everything can be purchased on Amazon good quality parts a little bit of your time you should be able to complete it for under 425. At the same time I would suggest replacing your shocks with a good quality set to avoid the sway of heavy load

I sold a F350 chip truck to purchase this C 4500, I had installed a set of timbren helpers on the f350. They worked great for a while I did notice the truck started sagging again overtime.
I think they are good but not nearly effective, when comparing them to the Firestone airbags.

If the bags are rated for it, there's no reason they can't carry whatever that weight is, usually limited by the pressure rating of the bag.
