ABR U Saver and Pulley Saver - ANSI Compliant?

I would like to pick up an ABR U saver as it seems to be a very versatile tool but my question is regarding the load rating for the large steel ring. It says on treestuff that the ring is rated to 5000lb MBS. If this is the case then is the device ANSI compliant? I thought it had to be a minimum of 5400lb MBS to comply with Z133.1.

The Pulley Saver Spec sheet says that it is ANSI compliant however the MBS for the Pulley Saver is indicated as 1500 daN or 3372 lbs. I am confused as to how this can be ANSI compliant at this MBS.

Last question is what rope is the U Saver made of?

Thanks!

I believe compliance requires the ratings for the entire device, used in the manner set by the manufacturer, meet the minimum load ratings. Not all of the individual life support components of a tree saddle, for example, would meet the requirements for a single leg configuration. But, since most of them are used in a two-leg (basket) configuration, the saddle can meet the requirements. I don't have an ABR U-Saver but I assume it's used in a basket configuration?

It's used in a choked configuration, the one I have is made from Aztec Orange, not sure if they are still using this rope to make them or not. You could always email/call treestuff. Never had a problem using it in a competition though.

@Jeff Gu : You are probably right regarding the individual components vs the device used as intended by the manufacturer. The spec sheet for the Pulley Saver does not differentiate between the various configurations possible and the associated MBS's of each; it just provides one which is significantly lower than 5400lbs. Given that the device is choked, I would expect that to lower the MBS. I wish they would just provide more info on their spec sheets.

As Mark suggested, I will just gives the guys at tree stuff a shout and see what they have to say.

Thanks

Aaahhh... that's right I forgot that rope needs to have the extra 400lbs tensile strength. This means that the U Saver would be ANSI compliant.

I still haven't figure out about the pulley saver but Eventually I will call tree stuff and see what they say.

Thanks
