A botanist’s home

A friend purchased a new home and the previous owner is a botanist. This specimen caught my eye. Any ideas? Most of the plantings are small exotic bushes and flowers. There are also 2 pear trees (maybe Bradford but look like a slightly different variety) which I’m hoping the botanist did NOT plant!

Golden Hinoki Cypress, I do believe.

Look at Cleveland Select Pear, it’s still a Callery Pear like the Bradford, but it’s a little less prone to structural failure, and it grows in a little different shape.
