$500 per day work for rope climbers

Let me see if I can make it more understandable. The contract is for the United States Army Corps of Engineers. We are removing hanging limbs and whole trees on private property at the expense of taxpayers. The trees where supposedly damaged by Hurricane Katrina, but that is another topic altogether. The way it is set up you are given a list of propertys in a packet. Each packet will have a drawing of the property with the trees identified that need work. You complete the work and haul off the debris, then a Quality Control person will come by with a representative from the corps to accept the property as complete.

Not quite sure how the packets are sorted but the ones another guy and myself have gotten have mostly been hangers and deadwood with a few smaller flush cuts. Some can also be worked without climbing by using a polesaw from the ground.

Hey Climbncut,

When you coming back? Being short a man is really starting to suck....

The real question is....Are they paying you 500 a day?

I am on the phone with (climbncut) as we speak and the offical(him) unoffical(me) answer is "Oh H*ll Yes"..

We had packets like that a first, but the closer to the end it gets the worse they get.

If you stay around until the end while things are wrapping up you'll find that there are no more gravy jobs. You earn every dime! The less skilled climbers somehow bypass the tough trees.

On our contract our crews are doing about one job per day. And...there are two experienced climbers and a good rigger on the crew.

No one is complaining...too loud ha haha! Let's wrap this up and send everyone home walking!

My last day is Tuesday.
