Confirmation came from the ISA Florida Chapter today, that the Certified Arborist Exam will be available at the Geezers-Windermere site on Thursday, Jan 20, 2011. This will be set-up day at the event, and one day prior to the aerial rescue class.

The test will run from noon on Thursday, until 4pm, so out of town candidates will have plenty of time to arrive on the site. There will be seating for 40 candidates, so if you're interested, go to http://www.floridaisa.org/examregister.php or www.isa-arbor.org and follow the certification topic links.

We're hoping that this will encourage some climber participants to take the opportunity to become Certified Arborists, and also hoping that folks who may be looking for a test opportunity in Florida, might stick around and think about becoming future participants at Geezers.

Dave, there's another Geezers thread that should have contact information to sign up as a participant or volunteer.

If you're interested in sitting for Certified Arborist, Municipal Specialist or Utility Specialist tests while you're down there, go to www.isa-arbor.org and follow the links to download test information and an application.

Hope to see you there!

Three candidates have signed up so far to test at Geezers. Identification of local trees is no longer a part of the test, so folks coming in from out of town don't have to be concerned if they're not particularly well versed in Florida trees.

If you're not a Certified Arborist, and plan on attending Geezers, just think of this as the 6th event at the competition. ;-) If you're already a Certified Arborist, we'll also be testing for Municipal Specialist and Utility Specialist, in addition to testing on the written portions of the Certified Tree Worker/Climber Specialist and Aerial Lift Specialist examinations, so don't miss out on a chance to get certified in another speciality.
