192t run problem

I was having a problem with our 192t today, everything ran great last time I used it and I replaced the spark plug, air filter and fuel filter last month. Today I went to start it and first it would not start, then when it did start it would stop a couple seconds later. Finally at home I got it running good when it's idling but as soon as you touch the trigger is stops. I checked the carb settings and they are set to the manual, the exhaust port is clean and nothing is binding but it feels like when you touch the trigger it's having a hard time pulling the chain. Any ideas what it could be?

The spark plug looks to be in all the way and it was gapped when I put it in last month. The last time I used it was about 2-3 weeks ago and it ran fine. I'll try taking a look at it tomorrow when I get some more free time.

Try dumping all the fuel out, every last bit.

go to the busiest station in town and get some fresh 89 octane or higher gas. Mix with a good quality mix oil, and fill it back up. it may take a few minutes for that old stale fuel to work its way through the lines.

2-3weeks is enough time for gas to go bad in a saw.

Let us know.......

Well I played around with it Sunday and when I took the bar off the saw would run but the rpms would go high without touching the trigger. I tried new fuel and removed the muffler cleaned out the exhaust port and checked the muffler. The only thing is even when it's hot and I shut it off I have to choke it for it to start. But at least now it runs so one step closer, tomorrow I'll try taking apart the carb and trigger and cleaning it hopefully the works.

Same thing happened to me w/ a 192 I used to own before a customer backed over it w/ her car (my fault) I took it back to the dealer, he worked on it doing all of the above, including the compression test. He couldn't figure it out either. Called the dealer rep (cause I wanted a new one) the rep picked it, brought it back a few days later and it screamed. It was ripping til the day the lady backed over it. Still (pardon the pun)to this day, don't know what the deal was, but the mechanic swears it was something to do w/ the exhaust and all of the modifications Stihl has had to make to meet strict Calif. air quality codes???????
