16 strand Friction Saver

I am very new to splicing, just starting to dabble at the moment... I am interested in making a ring and ring, 16strand FS, like the ABR one I currently own.
I seem to remember a thread going over this, but could not find it. Looking for some general instructions on how to perform this splice. I have heard that the core is removed, but can't wrap my head around the measurements and taper/crossover. Any insights? Thanks!
