What are the caveats?
If it’s not locked, won’t it free swing?
Post a picture of the top of the rotator plus the ttc part, if you could find a link, all you’d need to do is cap the ttc hose that locks up the joints, afaik.
I run a root grapple (not root rake grapple with the short tines) to make it easier to see the engagement with the ground (or preventing the engagement) to "rake" debris if doing tree work.
I have thought about getting a bucket grapple at some point, but as best I remember, I've never owned a...
I can't recall seeing any problems with tool grade batteries (Milwaukee is what I use) causing problems. Construction workers are harder on their tools than tree guys, on the average. Also the construction industry uses far more tools/batteries than the tree industry, so considerably more...
Is anyone using a Bevel Buddy on a high hp, machine fed chipper? I'm still new to chipping for production so I'm developing my ideas of how I want to handle it.
The middle knives take the most beating, but sometimes the love gets spread around. With the chips in the edge it seems like any...
From your picture, Bevel Buddy sharpens the B side, or the back side of the knife, not the side that is sharpened from the factory or sharpening service.
Merle's tool is just like the Accusharp you posted, except it only has one carbide blade and it sharpens side A/the factory sharpened side...
For sure, I thought 100 hours sounds remarkably great!
I was thinking about getting the garden sharpener based on your results, but decided it would likely be a lot of work for us.
I’ve thought about using a grinder and flap wheel, the knives are accessible, but so far I haven’t.
The idea that liability insurance being based on payroll is a nefarious, stupid ploy to pay more taxes into the government is an ill founded stretch with no proposed recourse to correct the imagined malady… typical for a rant, but who doesn’t enjoy some mental exercise?
Taxes paid as a fraction...
My GL basis is on payroll, not revenue.
I pay thousands of dollars a month for other insurance policies, but GL specifically, so far (since 2003), is very silly to not have.
I don’t often work by the hour, but I’ve not worked a normal job for $400/hr in years.
Normally we have a Manitou 3060, 416hp 22” chipper, Yanmar SV100, and a 165hp stump grinder on the job.
We’re not set up to do every job by a long shot, so we focus on our strengths. If not for it being...
7-10 minutes of production per month generates the revenue to cover the bill, although the bill is paid annually. I had an audit last month, I haven't heard anything, so I reckon they're good for another year.
It sounds like you need better customers and/or beter work.
My general liability coverage, if broken down to a monthly rate, equates to 7-10 minutes of our normal production rate.
Rotobec’s grapple saw.
I have wood mats, they hold a bunch of chunk and aren’t very fun to handle. They’re getting replaced with plastic mats.
I don’t think the mini would enjoy the gaps between the timbers, also rolling them up seems problematic. I need to go back and find those posts to...
Easy trick to reduce the mats deflecting causing the ground to sink is to just add layers :joy:
For the Manitou on a moderately soft area, we'll be at least three layers thick with the standard mats. The number of layers can scale as it gets softer. A single layer doesn't offer much ground...
