Just purchased my first log truck. Its a 2003 Freightliner FLD120 with a 2016 Serco 8500 loader. Its in fair condition, with plans to make it really nice. Paint the cab, sand blast the frame, and remove and fix up the log bunks. First problem I see is that is has no fenders on the rear wheels...
I climb on Climb Right Spurs. I decided to try these a few years back, but I could never get adjusted to the spur angle. Looking to trade for Climb Rights or Stein Aluminum Climbers. These are in very good condition. They have a handful of climbs, never been sharpened or re-tipped.
Looking for a well maintained log truck or tips on building one. I rather just buy one complete, but I have been tossing around the idea of getting a used chassis and having a loader put on it. Must be rear mount, must have decent HP and not a million years old. Located in Southern, NH.
-Any...
Just purchased a new 18XP. Its an animal and performs like crazy. 170 hp Perkins T4I. Few Issues I have noticed from my first day of use. I can weld/fab but its kinda heartbreaking to do on a new machine. I wanna keep it factory as possible at least for the first year :)
-Safety bar is way out...
Picked up this 2009 freightliner m2 yesterday. 280hp Cummings motor that smokes like a chimney and is lacking power. Monday it's going to the mechanic so he can go through the whole truck and hopefully sort the engine problem. 16' rugby dump needs some welding but suprisgly has little rust. I'm...
Finally getting some warm weather here in NH, so I wanna get a fresh coat of black paint on a lot of my equipment. Last year I did High gloss professional Rustolem, It has held up well but faded terribly. I
- I need I wanna spray it if I can, and probably roll the bigger areas.
I was thinking...
I just purchased my first bucket truck. I'm in the market for some Plastic outrigger pads. I rather just bit the bullet and go plastic, then go wood and have to replace in a year or so. They will see the elements. Truck is 33k GVW, and I have 4 outriggers. What makes and size pads are you guys...
Looking to purchase either a used bandit for Morbark this summer. Im running a 10" morbark, and it is currently my weakest link. I basically want to have the biggest baddest chipper, but keep it at under 10k GVW. I rather buy used because of all the emissions crap on the newer machines, also if...
I have been using the Meindl Airstream for 2 years. I am very happen with the durability and performance. I went to check them out again from TreeStuff and they are no longer available. I figured I would see what everyone else is using here. Couple other options that look promising.

Just picked up a used MS200T, I have wanted one for years but was unwilling to pay an excessive amount for a used saw. I got a fair deal @ $380.00. It felt powerful, but I wondered how it would stack up against my other saws. The rest of the saws were purchased new. Short video comparing them.
I'm looking to ugrade by 4700 chip truck this year to something with more capacity, and most importantly towing power. Its been a great truck and goes out daily. Works great with the chipper I have now (10") and roughly 6000lbs. Looking to ugrade to a larger chipper just under 10klbs, but before...

Selling my 2001 F350 Dump truck with the ford 7.3 Motor. 160k miles, auto. Runs and drives great. Goes down the highway at 70 no problem. Used for the past 3 years for tree service hauling chips, logs, and towing a trailer around town. Dump is a rack...
Guys, I recently bought a SK752 and I would say that is by far my best investment to date. Anyone on the fence, but one!! My first machine purchase was a Gelh AL540, and now that machine hardly goes out. It really only gets used on large removals and crane jobs. The ditch witch with the vermeer...
I have been using a 40 ton crane for all my tree work. Sometimes you can help but hurt the driveway or lawn when you drive in even with mats. I make people aware that the crane is 80,000lbs. But all it takes in one person to put up a stink. I want to put a clause at the end of all my proposal so...
Love my Gehl Al540 wheel loader. My only complaint is that its very tippy, this is noticed especially on uneven ground. I had a shop machine some 3" spacers to help stabilize the machine. Upon testing around the house, they seem to have definitely helped the way the machine behaves. I will post...
Just picked up this international 4700. Has the DT444 7.3 motor, with a 5 speed tranny. Thing seems to run pretty good, and made it the 3 hr ride home with no issues. Has a few little issues, but nothing major. Plan to paint it this winter, and clean up the chip body. The bottom of the boxes are...
Small business owner here looking for insight on the equipment/manpower steps people found that work to build up their small business. I have never worked for a tree service company, so most of my knowledge is found online and picking other company's brains when I run into them. Right now I...
