Ok. I think I can wrap up this thread for anyone that may wonder about Thomas mini skids. What it boils down to is that Thomas is selling their 25 hp 45 DT units to the Australians for a handsome price and they're happy to pay it because Australian made equipment has become so inflated. I'm not...
Because I have only a specific niche that I need it for. I do residential and small scale commercial underbrushing and the machine is just an upgrade to run a mini brush mower and at some point get a brush grapple to move light material around. I don't need the latest greatest machine I just...
I wouldn't. Read the comment above that one. I'm trying to figure out how cheap of a price that he's going to have to settle on to make it worth buying in this market. He's going to get back with me this week and I'd like to have some knowledge to negotiate with. I don't want to come across as...
And what would I be leading the way in? I'm not following. Maybe we're misunderstanding one another. I have no interest in being a dealer. I was hoping that I had found a good price on a reliable new machine. I'm just trying to gain some pertinent information as its almost impossible to get that...
Perhaps I'm asking the question the wrong way. If the 800 is $25,000 and he wants $23,000 and the average dealer profits around $2000. Then he's charging me the same as the Ditch Witch and I'm obviously not going to go that route but if the average dealer profits around $4000-$5000 on a machine...
Yeah. I totally see where you're coming from. To be fair I'm pretty sure that they don't have any dealers yet. A few long time employees of Thomas Equipment bought the business out of bankruptcy about 4 years ago, consolidated it and now all they do is manufacture mini skids and provide parts...
Great! So tell me. I'm not sure what the mark up is on a mini skid so how cheap of a price should I expect from Thomas factory direct. Owner says he'll give me dealer wholesale price. Spec wise, the 45 DT has the same engine as a SK 800 but not near the ROC, no high drive sprocket undercarriage...
Does anyone have any idea on how much mark up there is on mini skids. Trying to figure out a way to determine machine value between brands.

I did too until a few weeks ago. I was talking to a salesman and he kept making reference to an engine being a big block and having more torque so I got on the Kubota Engine website and pulled up the specs on their models. They have a chart and spec sheet on all of the engines which provide all...
There isn't an exact comparison in any brand to the TX 1000. It's about middle ways between an SK 800 and an SK 1050. It has the similar ROC to the 1050 and less hydraulic hp. It has a 24.8 hp Kubota like the SK 800 but the engine has a little larger displacement and a little more torque.
All...
It's the 45 DT. Which is a comparable 25 hp Kubota diesel track machine. But I see what you're saying. Do you know what the 45 DT or 35 DT sold for a few a years back?

Thats what everyone says. I wouldn't mind having that 1050 or 1550. I've heard they're monsters. Shock ones do you have and what are you're thoughts? I don't think I need the biggest one out there. I have a residential brush clearing business and I need one to run a mini rotary cutter and maybe...
Why would you prefer to pass on it? Just curious? I have experience with heavy equipment but am new to the mini skid market

Yeah Ditch Witch quoted me $25,000 over the phone on the 800. What I'm wondering is what is the mark up on mini skids? I'm guessing that Thomas is going to counter offer about $22,500-23,000. He says that he's giving me the same price as a dealer. Thing is if I were a dealer I'd have to sell...
I hear ya. Thanks for that. The owner quoted me $25,000 and said he could come down a little on the 25 hp diesel track machine. But that's factory direct. I'm just learning the market so I don't know if that's a good deal compared to top name brands. This seems to be more of a no frills work...
Hey guys. So it just so happens that my wife is Canadian and the Thomas Equipment manufacturing facility is right down the road from her house. We went up to visit last week and I decided to check them out. The owners were very friendly and showed me their place and their equipment. They appear...
