I've never used a hand held alpine magnum. But I've seen the size of its wheel and teeth.
But even with a ported 3120XP lol, it could not match me and my 252's hydraulic power and the 25hp Kohler.
I've only been running it myself for the last 14 years. She rips in 10" and under, whole core...
Lol, I can't imagine swinging a Alpine Magnum no matter what size of powerhead in anything over 10" day after day or all day long.
Sure you can grind a 3 footer once, but I ground out an 8 foot diameter stump once with my 252 and never broke a sweat.:sisi:
Hydraulics rule.
I bought my 252 brand new in 2003. Got almost 2000 hrs on it today with no major repairs. Machine does the work and I got plenty of energy left over to throw buckets of chips onto my trailer with the help of my power barrow.
Trick is to run 700 series GreenTeeth on the 252...
If that's not enough pulling power, then my diesel pickup has all the power I need in 4x4 low range.
Did some heavy pruning of large cottonwood lateral stems yesterday.
3/4" StableBraid redirected on block mounted on my trailer.
Nothing gets the momentum going better then this setup.
Hey Sean it's good to read you again!
Yes like 96Coal said Reese etc make a bolt on receiver hitch to bolt onto the front of trucks.
This is the style of tow hooks I have on my Ram 2500
2 of them one on each side under the radiator. A rope splice eye girths perfect on these hooks.
Don't even...
Actually my plan is to eventually mount a 2" receiver hitch on the front off my pickup. A 2" receiver hitch on the back of my chipper and on both sides of my trailer. So I can mount the Honda powered portable capstan winch in all those different positions to drag wood and tops up to where I'm...
I've used the triangulation stick trick method for years and am accurate within a few feet on a 100 foot tall tree.
Takes practice to compensate for back and forward lean or uneven ground.
But very easy to rectify.
Your welcome Coal,
Yes wild life in its natural habitat is second to none and we as arbs are blessed to share all that with them.
Put some more tanks through the 550XP today, now at about 10.
Saw runs alot better since the dealer tech did the updates on it resetting the fuel settings. But still...
Just to add to my last post here's another couple pics of the "other cutting machine"
Took my 10 year old twins out to it's dam not far from our house.
We watched him working relentlessly back and forth digging up clay from the bottom of the creek and plugging up leaks in his dam.
Getting some tanks through both 550 and 261 lately. But need to grab the 562 and 372XPs alot to keep production up with the daily removals.
Been using the MS261 alot more lately as it runs flawless, quick warm up, no hot start issues.
Was 77F(25C) yesterday with lots humidity and had the 16"...
Years ago I ran a 12" dime tip Cannon carver bar on my muffler modded Husqvarna 338XPT for some heavy pruning work. Was running Stihl boat tailed 1/4" carver chain, worked really well for a smoother cut and working in tight crotches.
Even went on to removals with the setup but mind you my 338...
There's no such thing as a sprocket nose carver bar whether dime tip, quarter tip or toonie tip. You gotta be Canadian to know what a toonie is, lol.
The OP never stated if his MS150 is stock or modified. But for light pruning a stock 150 would handle it. Trouble is chain tension has to be kept...
Running this .050 carver bar on a MS150 would rob way too much power from the little 150 without a sprocket nose.
Plus a .043 gauge 71PM mini 1/4" is whats recommended for the saw.
In this business you gotta know your limitations and apply the safest work procedures.
Not always listen to what a arborist training company advises.
Here we have climbers risking life and limb altering the fall of gravity of tons of wood, while isolated hanging from a crane hook. Or worse tied...
Here's a good example from today where my pickup got the tree on the ground being one of the handiest tools in my kit. Of course partnered with the BigShot, throw line and weight bag.
Unfortunately I don't think to take a picture of the tree standing, only until it's on the ground, lol.
This...
Thanks swingdude.
Here's my favorite pic of my trailer unit and pickup at the end of my driveway.
This is one of the rare occasions they are so clean, lol.
I did some exploring on the new edition Stihl MS261CM.
Very nicely designed air injection.
Turbo effect extra clean air pressurizing the air box will make a few more rpm plus good throttle response.
On another forum there was confusion about my last above pic of the "Ultimate treeworkers work site".
One guy asked where's the worker with the axe? Then when I explained a beaver did it...there was some more confusion what a beaver was
