I knew Jack, he was a good dude. Got a call from after it happened from a police friend when he heard it on dispatch. So damn sad. Single riggin point above his tie in ripped out. I will be attending the funeral tomorrow.
2 options. Buy bigger, better, more efficient equipment or start another crew or do both. buying a crane knocked our back log down, adding more crews too. You should not make a customer wait more than a few weeks. If you do you are losing customers and putting a cork on your business expanding...
Now I'm confused. Purchased my x rings from tree stuff. The slings have abr tags on them and rings say x rigging rings. So it looks like abr and x rings were once a compatible pairing, I'm guessing no longer. Ill continue my support for the original X rings. Poor entrance ABR.
11ft you will be running to dump often. The tool boxes built in take away chip capacity. We run 11ft southco in our forestry buckets and use it as a last resort to chip into when our chip trucks are full. It gets filled very fast.
Just got off the phone with Gerasemik. he takes picks at approximately 500lbs at any distance, even up close, though his crane is rated for much more. Pretty conservative which I think is a good idea. I am looking forward to going out to visit him soon.
So the only time you have seen a knuckle boom work was at a demo day? Have you operated one? NCCCO? Mike' s point was to demo max capacity. He was not using a grapple saw putting stresses on the boom that is was not designed for. Apples and oranges.
Reading back on the thread you seem to be...
A lot of info is being thrown out here that I don't agree with. A Kboom is designed different than an excavator and I'm not sure why they are being compared even remotely relevant in their use, design, and ability to safely handle rotational mass once a piece gets cut. This is a crane forum...
I wear the clear face shield(not the mesh shield) on the protos, I can't say I recommend it. even with anti fog applied the moisture it trapped from my breath formed ice to the point it was unclear to see out of. it works ok up until that point for about the first hour in a tree. I bought it to...
I get excited when I see a new crane post, doesn't matter if it's tree related or otherwise. Crane work is pure awesomeness. Keep the pics and vids coming!
That test was done by alturnamats, good marketing but not a conclusion that mats are best suited for all equipment at all job sites.. There is more to weight displacement(ground pressure) than measuring deflection of a material. I first started using alturnamats with our crane to go on driveways...
Gerasimek, why not the mecanil sg280 25" bar? What happens when the tree is bigger than the bar? Do you then take the grapple saw off and use the hook to pick up the trunk? I am going to talk to the guys at effer and see what they think about adding these. does mecanil offer demos? I would...
Saw these posted on another board and this guy swears by it. Says no climber needed. My thoughts are that it can't be good for the crane. Lots of shock loading and side loading the boom as each piece is cut it flips unless you take a small pick. What do you guys think?
Would love to see a workshop on a Sunday. Something just came in the mail for a workshop in Manapalan Nj then I read its a wednesday and Thursday class. I don't know how ya'll take off during busy season mid week. January or Febrauray is the ideal time for classes and even then weekends work...
We have 6 units. 2 have been sent back to Amazon and we were sent new ones. One just stopped working and the other the flexible mic became disconnected at the plastic base when the mic was repeatedly adjusted.
