Do you think tree removal gets more focus and attention than other aspects of tree care?

I completely agree. Did a large removal project this week and every neighbor came and got a card. You just take what you can get. I try to be the voice of reason for clients. No fear based work. Act with integrity. Save what I can, remove what's necessary. Unfortunately we don't protect trees...

Bandit Chipper Chute Removal, Pocket Welding, and Bearing Replacement

How many hours are on the machine? Not something I'd thought to inspect for.

Bandit Chipper Chute Removal, Pocket Welding, and Bearing Replacement

Lmk how the diamond wheel works. I've got some repairs to do this winter and have been eyeing those for a while. Price seems steep but not if they kick ass.

Thoughts on chippers, based on knife orientation

I second this. Bandit all the way. Selling our morebark and bought a bandit. Hated the Vermeer. Sharp knives and fresh anvil edge matters most.

    Mini skid mulchers ?

I've got a Maschio Birba 150 for the tractor (Yanmar 425). It's impressive for what it is. It's not a huge money maker, but for our clientele it's a nice offering that leads to more work. I.e invasive management, plot improvement, etc. We've got an avant branded mulcher for the 755i too. It's...

CTSP Profile... This month's TCI mag....way to go Brando!

Thank you. Our new guy moved up here from South of the twin cities to work here. Hopeful that he works out. He's sprat 1 trained and worked as a ground hand for some folks down there. Cautiously optimistic

"no trouble hiring" sure. Finding the right folks though, and keeping them.... Another story. Hopefully we're getting the hang of that

    Palfinger PK88 for Sale

Hoping by spring the employee part is fixed. New guy started this week and other employee is transitioning into backup/maintenance. Hoping that things are on the up and up there. We'll see. Kay sees the value in it if we have decent folks. And I've got a hand full of operators around who'd be...

    Palfinger PK88 for Sale

I hope it sells soon. But if it's still there this spring I'm buying it. It's that or a hoeflon C10, but this truck would be amazing.

    Burning out

This is hard to reply to on the phone, and every time I get to my computer work happens... Lol. I'm trying to grow at the pace my market is dictating, which has been a faster pace than I anticipated this year for sure. I'm looking for someone with individual drive. As it turns out, the kid...

Thanks bud. We're trying really hard. I want this to be a place folks are taken care of and want to work. Kay is pretty upset, she puts as much into this as I do. She bends over backwards for our people too, so it affects her just as much, if not more so because when I have to do 16 hour days...

Not really, most of my clients are well to do. I hope it won't be. Hr hasn't been my strong suit. We actually hired a PEO to take over because I suck at it, but it hasn't been implemented yet. This person needs to hold a rope idk. I mean I can do stuff alone. I'd make more money doing sales...

I'm actually working with our college to implement a pre apprenticeship as a stepping stone to an urban Forestry course. The apprenticeship does that very thing, stable incremented raises with bonuses. Hell I'm paying 20+ an hour in fringe benefits too.
