This is my setup 95% of the time. I might tow the trailer with an old F350 if it's a no clean up. Hoping to replace the trailer soon with a 16' enclosed car hauler for the mini and gear.
If there's any downside, the groundie may have to add a little more friction than they might originally think. It's smaller in the hand, so a little harder to hold (minimally), and less surface contact on the bollard.
Not a big adjustment, somewhere around an additional 1/2 wrap from...
I've got some of it and built a light duty ring and ring for it. 150' of rope and ring and ring only takes up about half of a rope bag. It works pretty good, surprisingly strong and very easy to throw with some weight for remote sets.
Typically you don't have to call it for the day, at least around here a storm will pass relatively quickly. If it's one of those 60+ min storms your better off calling it a day and keeping the crane on the clock for a storm job.
I was on one the other day climbing in a storm damaged Maple...
I dont know the standard, but 15 miles is close enough for me with any boom in the air (grapple loader truck, crane, or spider lift)
If we don't have a boom, just a Climber, we are often down sooner simply because with lightning often comes wind.
All of the above is really just for...
I don't know the answer to your pump question, but since you already have the tank I would test your mini/trailer combo on your typical terrain that you will need it. A full tank will be quite heavy, a half full tank will change its center of gravity often and may be more difficult to...
Rec climb seems to be the ticket then. Get him a good tie in point with no need to disconnect from his main tie in (minimal risk) and let him get a feel for what his coworkers are going through. It might make him an even better ground guy as he realizes what can help a Climber while aloft...
One thing you didn't mention is if he wants to climb. If he does, I'd have a talk with him about the short comings that you see and why that concerns you. He can't better himself in those areas without being made aware of the issue.
Can you link two mats together to prevent the slipping?
Depending on your soil conditions you may be able to stake the mats down. I've done this with tent stakes for a mini skid. The stakes held well in clay. Soft topsoil and they didn't have enough holding power
I looked into those saws once, more out of curiosity than anything, and saw on their website saw that a complete saw being shipped by them might be confiscated by customs and if so, you were out of a saw and the money you paid. Seemed kinda risky for a saw with known cheap parts that you end...
I like the klou. However, I was originally thinking something along the line of these
I thought these might be better for cleaning up homeowner brush piles, or trees that are brushed out without cleaning up as we go. This happens fairly often with a grapple loader truck, as you don't have to...
Dragon and bear hug is simply rotated 90°? Does it use a locking pin to hold it there or is that a hydraulic function?
I like the ready to use towing adapter.
There are old threads on here but nothing has been added to them in recent years pertaining a preferred mini skid grapple.
I currently have a knock around bmg and I do like it, however after owning it 5-6 years I am wondering about buying a different style to compliment it. The BMG is great...
Posting for a friend, but he's looking to change the hydro filter after some erratic behavior from the lift.
The lift was working correctly and suddenly started doing 2-3 movements when he only called for one. Many suggestions on what could possibly be the problem, stuck solenoids...
Large crispy pin oak removal. Glad to have this one done. You can see my buddy back behind the stump for scale, hes standing about 6 feet back after finishing the backcut.
The Ryan's grapple on his articulating loader wouldn't open enough to grab the rounds.
Echoing everyone else on replacement if it gives you peace of mind. Honestly though I'd probably climb on that unless I could see something else on an in person inspection.
A cheaper (free) option if you climb srt on it, tie an alpine butterfly with the damage in the loop and make that side...
In addition to the above, my only real complaint so far is the fuel tank. A slight nuisance is that the tank is located under the hood. This makes fueling a little less convenient than the s600 was with its external tanks.
Also it only has 7 gallon capacity. If it's used hard throughout...
So far it's been great. I had a vermeer s600 before this. It's a big step up in capacity and traction.
I always thought traction wasn't a big deal since you don't need a lot when lifting/carrying items vs digging. However with the bobcat I can move the bulk of front yard trees with the...
Has anyone used any other companies vinyl wrap for equipment that consistently has brush drag across it? How does it hold up?
It's not a big investment to have this done, but I'd rather not waste the time/money if half of its going to get scratched off right away.
