No jokes, this is a local tree services Avant that’s roughly about the same age as my Giant 254 Tele. Mine after three years looks brand new minus some scuffs.
The whole Giant is thick metal, and pretty much can’t be dented.
We love our Giant 254/1200 Tele HD
-All metal body.
-In business since 1996.
-They use a universal attachment plate.
-The engines last longer because it’s a automotive style foot pedal, usually during the day we are not using more than 10-25% of the throttle, even during heavy operations...
So I looked at the Morbark equivalent really hard, they are similar, but the Bandit had a much larger drum which takes big wood with less fuss. Also, when looking up the part number, the 15 XP had larger drum bearings overall.
The 15XP is literally built off the 18 XP, so you can work the snot...
CDA! I am pretty involved in Oklahoma’s industry, becoming a bit of a shot caller with regional issues, but it’s going to be humbling starting from scratch up North.
Northern ID has a different culture I am realizing, arbs up there are not very friendly, it’s not like the Boise area with a lot...
My family and I are oriented ourselves to sell the business and move up to the rest of our family in Idaho. Our business in Tulsa has been a major blessing and has gone better and easier than I ever dreamed, but it’s probably worth us putting in 30 years into an area we plan to live long-term...
The Ford 6.2 is a legendary power plant, with parts everywhere. They are 400-500k engines in the super duty’s. Timing chain tensioners are their only problem, and take 2 hours to fix. I saw a 18 XP 6.2 with 4300 hours on it, and owner said it’s original besides the tensioner.
I have a 15XP...
2.5 years in, and zero problems besides a few loose fittings.
Has the dual wheel kit, with all tires foam filled. Picks up about as much as my friends DW SK850.
I requested the quality control sheet for my chipper from factory.
It actually tested a little better on fuel consumption compared to what a RSG-862 distributor told me.
They won’t, I’d say the highest hour for 6.2 I’ve seen his 4000 hours, but it was still running good. 4000-5000 hour range, typically the chipper needs the whole thing refurbished.
When I bought my 15 XP 6.2, at least at the time, he said he could replace the engine for the price of doing the...
I have a new 165 HP 6.2 15XP and love it.
Keep in mind, it gets two times fuel consumption vs the GM/PSI 5.7. (11.3 vs 5.4 gallons per hour at 100% load). I get about 8 to 12 hours of constant runtime on my 40 gallon tank, and we light up the chipper and start running brush through with the...
2011 F150 and a trailer back in 2020. I never thought I would grow bigger, but I did. Having 4 kids with my wife made it’s easy, because failure was not an option.
Now,
-2004 4300 chip truck
-2023 15XP
-2022 Giant 254 Tele
-2023 F350
-Maxxd dump and tilt deck.
Self cuts are king for the horizontal picks. Obviously you want it balanced perfectly, but you can purposely rig it slightly butt heavy, and allow it to lift off the shelf.
You can also make an upward cut on the brush end, then a horizontal plunge cut to rip down a fat branch. After that, you...
