for me long gaff’s are more knee-friendly and not wobbly at all. i don‘t have to twist my knee outwards for the gaff‘s to engage, i can almost keep my leg’s neutral. also „branch-walking“ is not really possible with short gaff‘s.
i have a new set of bashlin‘s and managed to make opsal pad‘s fit. since 3-4 years no cracks in the pad‘s from removing to much material :) best setup for sure, thanks rico for the recommendation!
choke it where length of sling is not too critical (often times with a shackle) or to be able to use it on large wood with max WLL (because of splice) instead of a running bowline.
georgio fiori has some video‘s where he is breaktesting various configurations with 9mm tenex, it‘s on his youtube. i don‘t remember if he‘s testing different splice‘s or just knot‘s.
i used to carry a throwball around for that but now i just tie a hangman’s knot with no bight… the joining of lines is a good one, also for switching out rigging lines. might be smart to have a dedicated piece of throwline for that, mine get shorter and shorter ;)
so i bought a pair vivo etc forest and used them yesterday for pruning, i like it alot!
the ascender strap‘s are more noticeable but so is the tree. i‘m not too worried about shredding them as they appear well build and cost the same as a pair of lasportivas (@Matias) also i enjoy walking...
roperunner pro, openable links… are you sure you don‘t want a protos aswell ;)
what do you like about the setup? streamlined and quick change of the bridge or is the bridge „behaving“ in a way?
