    Chipper Falling Apart

He tore down the engine and realized the oil pump was out of balance. No more shaking. Eight months after initial repair I think I just might have a working chipper :)

    Chipper Falling Apart

Yeah all of the mounts seem to be tight. It originally needed to be rebuilt because someone had put the wrong bolt to hold in the pulley on the crankshaft. That pulley fell off and tore up the crankshaft. It looks like the shaking was happening because he put the same pulley back on there and...

    Chipper Falling Apart

Perkins/Cat 3054c. I know people say these engines are junk but I had zero problems with it the first two years I owned it, I might only need it for another couple of years

    Chipper Falling Apart

It is rattling from the engine though, the disc is consistent with what it used to sound like. I have heard people had a bunch of stuff break off of dingos because the idle was set too low from the factory.

    Chipper Falling Apart

I just paid a lot of money to have my bandit 250xp engine rebuilt in June then had to put it back in the shop shortly after to get the injection pump rebuilt. I feel like I have barely got to use it till these past two months. Even when I first got it back with the engine rebuild I couldn’t help...

Im new to the business, but never climbed before. Any advice?

I don’t know if that is fair to say. I do agree it is a very good show and I personally am a fan. However I know of people that will never get into it simply because fantasy is not their thing. In your OPINION it is the best show but to say it IS the best show is not right. How could you even...

Im new to the business, but never climbed before. Any advice?

That drink you made looks tasty. What flavor is it? I want to start drinking but I have trouble with the taste of alcohol. MASH is my moms favorite show I have never really watched so I don’t know how I like it. One old show I really like is “The Andy Griffith Show” I watch it every week.

Would you use collateral for a loan?

Would that be cheaper to put a gas engine in there? It seems like super custom work and redoing everythinggg on the chipper. Even though the engine is much cheaper don’t you think the whole project would end up being about the same? So I think the engine is a 3054c 130hp Perkins/Caterpillar 2500...

Would you use collateral for a loan?

For a new engine it will be $15-$21k. For a 2008 bandit 250xp. My bank account has more than that in it but is it wise to spend almost all my money on this? Dealer will give me $5k for my chipper as it sits.

Would you use collateral for a loan?

Yeah that is the one thing I am worried about... I feel the emergency fund would be the best. If I got hurt I am the only climber. I only have ground workers working for me. Even if I could get the insurance that would cover the cost of the chipper what would my ground guys be doing? I feel like...

Would you use collateral for a loan?

Thank you for your reply. They said interest rate would still be within their standard which is up to 9% which I guess is not the best but also not the worst. I do not have the all the money and it is just tied up in something else but I am also paying myself enough to live this year for the...

Would you use collateral for a loan?

Is there any bad things that go along with offering collateral for a loan... other than they will take all of your stuff if you do not pay them back? The rep for the financial institution that I am talking to is making it sound unappealing and did not even want to offer it. I do not plan on not...

    Plywood on steep driveway

I was putting off even sending this bid out because even with that plywood I feel I might crack the driveway and did not explain that to them that as a possibility. I cracked my first sidewalk, the customer didn’t care as it was already in ruins but I was not anticipating it and it was a...

    Plywood on steep driveway

I like the idea of belaying it down. I don’t think that would take much time to set up. I’m sure it doesn’t need much. Maybe just an f350 and a porta wrap at the top of the drive way would be fine.

    Plywood on steep driveway

Stupid question I hope someone will answer for me... When putting down plywood on a steep driveway is there any chance of it shifting or sliding when driving down it especially when braking? I have never felt the need to plywood a driveway for my bucket truck. I just bid on a job where they...

    First chipper...decisions

Do you think the 145hp is overkill? This is going to be my only chipper. My main concern is fuel usage but the 89hp might not keep up. I was quoted $68,000 for the 18xp 165hp gas with all the options but it’s probably too heavy for my 7.3 f550 with 20 yard box. I don’t want to tear that truck...

    First chipper...decisions

@DTS What were you quoted for that chipper? I was just quoted $48,500 for the 145hp 12xp with all the options. It seems kinda high.

Yeah normally we do but sometimes it’s just not practical so I thought it would be nice to be able to take it down ourselves
