Are equipment prices dropping?

Tis the season for some to be thinning down before winter. Different parts of the country are doing better than others.

Wide spread supply chain issues causing whole goods scarcity isn't really a problem anymore.

I got what I think is a decent deal on a Morbark chipper last week from 800 miles north. They hadn't been able to sell it for the last ~18 months because it was too big for their average customer.

Seems like prices have gone down and there is way more stuff available. I’ve seen a lot of people are getting out of the business or downsizing fleets. Stuff sits for sale a long time from what I’ve seen. Not like during the COVID years where anything would sell and it would sell fast.

Well I’m glad everyone is seeing drop in prices but my way it’s not.
2020 83’ lift 129k
4/1/25 90’ 166k
8/27/25 90’ 193k supposedly of tariffs

Only $ is dropping is profits

A roll of electrical tape was $6.78 at Napa

My stumper 85hp 2013 was 73k
Just priced a new Vermeer gasser and it was 105k
70hp diesel 95k

It seems to be only getting harder to be in business for your self
Work flow is good but profits are down

That’s what I’m seeing in southeastern Mi

Fresh quote of $42k for sk800 with bmg grapple, bucket and brush guards. Bought the same machine including forks for $30,200 in 2020. 40% increase over 5 yrs same model and engine, prob means we should 8% increase in rates each yr too then. House values are closer to double in my area, so perhaps just a tech job...

I would suggest they are different markets.

I'm not shopping that much for a new chipper. I haven't started my chipper in a month.

Couple dozen times all summer.

At the price I saw, I'd be more motivated.

I'd really like a lighter, not heavier, chipper, but no granted.

I'm curious about mounting an electric brake controller on my miniloader.

I wouldn’t say cheap, but comparatively decent. There was a better price, if it was real, but the dealer was flakey and a poor communicator. I gave up waiting on them.

Meanwhile, we’ve made ~150 yards of chips with the chipper that was delivered Friday; we should make at least 100 yards today.
