Plan to demo first. We never had a problem with the 9” feeding brush due to the single feed roller. The auto feed is always stopping to let the motor catch up. 35hp just isn’t enough. And I swap knives every 50 hours because once they lose their edge there isn’t enough power to push the knives...
Yes the 12x is a less expensive entry level machine. Only has a top feed wheel and two knives on the drum, same as the Morbark 1215. The XPC and the XP are a level up from the X.
Currently running a Vermeer BC900XL, looking to upgrade since we find we are waiting on the chipper to process material more and more. Talked to both salesman and got quotes on both machines, only a couple hundred difference in price. If you have experience with either of these I’d love to hear...
I had a Timberking 1600 full hydraulic for 2 years before I got the LT15 wide, which I got this past winter. I had $30k invested in the 1600, this time of year tree work is too busy to mill, so the mill just sat. Its hard to swallow a $30 investment that isn't turning any income. Did a few jobs...
Getting an Avant wheeled loader, which will replace my Mini and Kubota tractor. The mini doesn't get used a whole lot as you can see by the hours, but my tractor gets used everyday in the woodlot, moving logs, trailers, firewood, chips and brush. I also have a bandsaw mill and the Kubota...
Selling my 2018 Vermeer 925TX mini skid, comes with a Vermeer grapple, 42" bucket, 55 hours give or take a few. 50 hour service performed last month. I bought this new last May. $26,000 cash sale, located in Pine Grove, Pa. 17963. The unit is being traded in on Monday of next week, so a deal...
Had a rainy afternoon on Friday and visited the CB and Heatmaster dealer. Was looking at the CB Edge 750 and the 6048. He said since I have a business I could run the non EPA 6048, which honestly I liked the simplicity. Seems like a grey area though, yes I run a business from home, but I will be...
I've been heating my house for the last 30 years with an indoor woodstove. In this business its a no brainer. I sell my nice saw logs to the local circle sawmill, I mill all my crotches and logs that make good slabs on my own bandsawmill, I process the rest into firewood for myself and to sell...
I am the one who set the bucket, it was a routine maintenance check. I check on it three times a year. The contents are pretty slim, and unfortunately treestuff is getting away from the bucket format and is switching over to a placard. Take a picture of the placard and I guess they'll send you...
First climb. My thoughts coming from a rope runner and a HH2. This thing is an engineering marvel. Running just fine on tachyon. Started on the max friction setting on both upper and lower, currently in the third position from max and running smoothly and no creep in any of the three settings...
Not a lot going on right now, mostly running the sawmill and catching up on firewood. Is this something you would be interested in the spring/summer? But you probably have plenty of work then too.
Leapfrogging lanyards around all the foot pegs would take awhile. After doing some more research there is device called a cable sleeve that is similar to a rope grab for cable. This attaches to the vertical cable that is permanently attached to the pole. Slides up and down with the climber and...
Had an interesting job offer the other day. A friend, who works for the company that is doing the job, asked if I wanted to climb a light tower in a stadium to swap out an old light with a new light. There are 30 lights on each tower and they plan to replace all the lights. They want me to...
