Some changes to the figure eight would be to make the circle smaller, more d shaped, and replace the small circle with two small horns.

AJ/ Brocky - is this getting closer to the "crescent" design for a trunk cinch? Hadn't seen this before . . . DMM Anka.
It'd be easy to splice into the smaller ring and use a biner on a loop of rope passed thru the other larger ring for a stem choke?

I'm pretty well settled in on my bow shackle double eye lanyard end. Meets my requirements, the functionality and build is holding up well over time.

Oh yeah, in regard to the thread about advancing, the weight of the stainless shackle throws really nicely.

Very cool! did you keep the horn/pin on it? That's the kind of thing I'd grind off in a split second ;-)

Ok, looked at the Smart Snap ropes course/zipline tool. Looks like you found a way to order only the rated "key" device, nice.

Pins came off, but could be used to get more friction, but too tight of a bend radius for my liking. I got 8-10 on eBay for a reduced price, sold all but the ones I use. There are some rope course websites that sell them separately.

Whichard does make something a little different for 10mm , 12mm and 16mm dyneema soft shackle I am getting one to see if I can find a use for it.

I'll have you know that I am a proficient moss-Walker. Once I got the scoop inside, toe up, down outside motion set, it showed itself to be a great technique for moving around the canopy if I happen to forget my foot ascender.
I think it's been a couple of years since you first showed it off here, and I threw it right in the bag of tricks.

Yeah, but @moss is figgin LOADED!

He also uses 2 feet. One with a foot ascender and the second foot “poor man”. His way gets both feet engaged.

Moss, on that sketch of the ring with the angled horn - a welding shop could tig weld a stub on at an angle and then you just have to file it smooth. bupkus machining.

Ha! I hope so! If that's what he wants to be doing.

All the weird online disputes I've been in over the years. Started out battling with a handful of southern U.S. rec climbers when I was first learning the ropes. Well... even though I'm not a Yankees fan I was "the Yankee" ;-)

My favorite line was from an Alabama climber, we'd canoed deep into some bottomland swamp old-growth. "This Yankee cooking isn't bad!" Ha. It was just stuff from a local market cooked fresh over a campfire. We'd resolved our differences by the time I mixed a Florida climber's moonshine with my Yankee coffee somewhere around midnight.

I refer to new Englanders as yankees too, it just makes sense when you're not from there I guess? My in laws from CT who are red sox fans do not like it much, but it's not about baseball to me. Damned yankee culture is a hoot I'll tell you what!

I remember a long time ago Reed sold all his gear and said he was going construction, I hope he's doing alright.
