Anyone have or know of one that is for sale. Need the upper boom for a 52’ aerial lift of Connecticut. Mine has a crack in it.

not intending to derail this thread but can you post a pic of the crack if visible or share how it happened if it was a known event, or what lead you to decide to look close enough at it to down the boom etc. Just curious. I've been around aerial lifts for 20 years have not been around one that has had a crack in it yet so curious how it manifested for you.

I will tmrw. Where the upper boom sat in the rear cradle, the underside got soft over the years. One of my employees didn’t collapse the hydraulics when he set it in the cradle. When the truck was driven the next day after hitting a bump in the road the boom jumped out of the cradle and punctured the boom, putting a 3” hole in it. I had that repaired but after a few months a crack started and today worked up the side of the boom and that ended the integrity of the boom.

Just spoke to him. $9,000 for a new boom. $7,000 labor. Takes 2 months to build boom. I think I have to rent a bucket from a&a. $6,000 plus a month. Got any suggestions?

None except to say Jeff's work is good if you decide to go with him. He's been doing it forever and was with ALC from the beginning.

$300 a day for a 75' rear mount sounds reasonable to me

I can visualize this perfectly. Good write up.

Thank you for sharing.

I could come out with my grapplesaw crane truck and give you a hand on few jobs if that could help you. I can put a man basket on there as well.
2k a day includes 8 full hours on-site
1k Half day / 4 hour minimum
Also have a spider lift I sub out with 70 foot working height, similar rate.
Lots of jobs guys schedule thinking they need full day on trees they’re used to with bucket truck and rigging , then we bang it out in 3 or less hours with the crane
Colts neck about hour from me

No, He could be a reference for me though. He would be another great option to bang out some work while you’re awaiting your repair!
Rick taught me how to work off the k boom hook in 2013ish, worked with him for the first time, quite a bit since then and still. In 202O/21 I bought a 90 foot single axle knuckle he put together years back and ran until 2023 when I purchased my current unit.
Rick and I spoke on the phone yesterday.
My name is Aaron
He usually calls me thunderbird or crane life
I could not answer why lol
