I've been saving this job for my birthday because the seventy-eight-foot climb is the same as my age. There's what looks like a dead limb there that needs to come down.

The temp this morning was 46 degrees, and the wind was blowing over ten with gusts over twenty. To top it off I had to fight my way around several limbs, and the dead limb was intertwined with several live ones in a real mess. I had to cut it into six pieces to toss down.

I gathered up the pieces.

Being able to make a climb like this at my age is sweet. Dealing with the unexpected challenges made it even better.

It was still cold but not as windy, so I climbed to get this hanging dead limb.
It was up in this mess.

I left a line in the tree so I can go back up for some of the other stuff. It was a fun climb with a great TIP, so I'll enjoy
going back up.

It was easy to retrieve my throw weight and orange line that got wrapped around a little limb (lower right corner of the photo) on my first shot. I took this picture several days ago when I was setting up for the climb.

36”+ white pine snag today

My fourth climb this week was in this fine pine with a loose but securely lodged dead limb..


Gathered up on the ground it looked like this. The limb on the left was a little lower on the tree.

Back to beating the bushes for climbing projects.

42ft, which is better than nothing and considering most of our trees aren't huge is good enough. Plus, it'll help on some of the bigger hedges I do.

I went up on the other side of the tree I climbed Thursday to get these two dead limbs.

Hand sawing took a while, but probably less effort than getting the chainsaw up and down with a rope.
