I used those years ago. I had a similar experience as @Reach They do have a good amount of sodium and nice vitamins but lack in the potassium and magnesium department.I've been liking the Liquid IV stuff. It's got sugar, but you need sugar for energy. As long as you don't overdo it, it's fine. Most folks are couch potatoes and never burn it off. That's usually not a problem working trees. It's overpriced like all this stuff, but I grab it on sale if I see it. If I don't have that, I take a salt pill.

Those are pretty good. Nice flavor. I’ll often use them in conjunction with the diy electrolyte recipe on page one as they don’t have enough sodium.
I'll give those a try as well. Agree potassium is pretty important when your sweating hard.

I really like the LMNT too. If you get tired of the flavors offered or want to save a little money Redmond Real Salt has their Relyte in tubs for less. Pretty similar electrolyte profile. Although I don’t think the LMNT pouches are too bad price wise with a subscription. Especially when you consider the price of energy/hydration drinks at a gas station.LMNT is what I have found that works the best for me. I had used them all in the past but was looking for something without sugar and found LMNT. I would highly recommend it and I think it’s worth the money.

This is a great point. For example a pound of fresh ground 80/20 beef (the og superfood) has a whopping 1225mg of potassium and 77mg of magnesium. Add in some low carbohydrate vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, spinach, etc. and the average adult should be good to go. On a personal note I’m usually low in those two at my annual blood work so I don’t mind supplementing. Even so the primary goal is to replace the sodium chloride. Plus I get bored with plain water pretty quickly .I would respectfully suggest that not only do you not need the sugar, but if you are on a good diet, you don't need magnesium and potassium. Salt is the primary element you lose to sweat, and the only one that can be quickly replaced. It makes sense to use salt to replace lost electrolytes in real time. But it takes many hours/days to replace a deficit of magnesium and potassium. And food is a great source of both. If you are in a position where replacing magnesium and potassium on a daily basis with drinks is working, upping both in the form of foods that contain these elements is probably much healthier and certainly incredibly far cheaper than prepackaged drinks. Get magnesium and potassium in your food and you can replace $$$ drinks with salt tabs and water that cost perhaps 20 cents a day.
I was a little low in potassium for my annual blood work this year. I worked like a dog the day before and skip dinner which probably had something to do with it. But it got me looking into electrolytes and figuring out my reverse osmosis water filter takes out all minerals. I’m gonna go back to a standard carbon filter which is a shame because the reverse osmosis system wasn’t cheap!This is a great point. Most folks don’t remember but the original Gatorade was very salty and not too sweat. Now it’s an artificially sweetened and flavored mess.those salt pills @Vicente posted and water are the best bang for the buck option really.
Ha, ya the liquid IV stuff has aspartame and the Nuun tabs have stevia leaf extract.Most of those sugar free flavored ones have synthetic sweeteners that are worse for you than sugar.
There are some red flags out there with the sucralose and sorbitol in those. Hey if it works for you cool. That’s all that matters.I have been using this one for the last 7 years, and have not found better.
1 Tablet in a 24 ounce bike bottle, and you have an Isotonic Electrolyte drink without sugar. Never any Gastric emptying issues, even when PHC spraying in the long sleeves on a 95F day and the sweat rate is through the roof.
Taste good, many flavor options and about 33 cents a tablet in a 24 ounce bottle.

It's not that bad yet. Tons of potassium and magnesium in veggies. Almost no historical change in magnesium levels. About a 25% drop in potassium across 36 different fruits and vegetables. Not hard to find which ones aren't effected or eat a bit more.I 100% agree with @Mike Islander , however most of modern foods are depleted of these essential minerals/vitamins themselves …… meaning we/I need to source them from alternative means.
