We will take days off if it gets down below zero at night, with highs in the single digits, just because the diesels won’t start. I don’t like to quit because it’s cold, but we don’t get much of that cold around here so we aren’t really equipped for it.

-20 wind chill supposedly in Tulsa Friday morning. Will be delivering 6 loads of tub ground mulch via 16 foot dump trailer for a garden. Luckily the 2004 Intr DT466 starts instantly without being plugged in during single digit temps. Got lucky with it!

-30 degC and -41 degC windchill where we are right now (Alberta, Canada). Been a four day deep freeze! Christmas is supposed to be +2 degC! Such is life in Chinook country!
Been off all week, I choose not to work in sub-freezing temps, and unless there is an emergency I stay off the snow covered roads as well. When it snows out here, pretty much everything shuts down, so I feel no pressure to go out and take unnecessary risks.

I save work through the year for when the ground is solid. However I don’t want to work under 20 deg unless it is dead calm. Block heaters for trucks and 4-6hr days. The real key is going into the winter with enough money to be ok with it.

We shut down for this week and likely next week too. What might change that is they are predicting two full days of freezing rain for our area. If damage is bad we could be very busy.

We went from 45 to -2 degrees in one hour yesterday, insane. Ended up at -13 last night.

We keep it going, usually shut down when there’s too much snow on the trees and during storms but that’s about it. I like winter work for the most part.
