Tree Service Media (Marketing Company)

Reach

Been here much more than a while
Location
Atglen, PA
Has anybody here ever heard of the company called Tree Service Media? I got an email from them a couple weeks back, and spoke with them the other day about trying to find a climber for us. They guarantee results, and say that they always hire within 60 days. It sounds a little bit suspicious to me though, especially since they don’t seem to have much Internet presents besides their website.

Anybody have any thoughts on this one? I would love for it to be a real company, and for it to work, but I have some concerns before I sign up and write them a check.

Their website is https://treeservicemedia.com/ if anyone wants to check it out and give me their thoughts!

I’ve never heard of them but that doesn’t mean anything.
What do they charge?
What is their guarantee?

Businesses are in a crisis with the whole employment situation
Not just Tree Services but everyone

Their prices aren’t bad, they say $2497 plus $15 per day the search lasts.

They claim that they have never not placed someone in a position, which is a bit concerning to me. They also say that if you hire someone and they don’t work out within 60 days, they will find another person at no cost.

Yeah if one company could solve the employee crisis we the world wouldn’t be struggling for employees
Sorry I’m not feeling it
Might be better off offering a $2500 bonus after 6 months of employment or a year

We’ve tried that approach already, it didn’t get us anywhere, unfortunately.

If they find 'someone' but that person isn't a good fit and you don't hire them, so they think their guarantee is met? Do they refund money after 60 days if they don't find someone?

I've never used a head hunting service. How do those rates compare?

I signed with them yesterday, so we will see how things go. It seems that they do guarantee a higher, and that it will be a good fit. A claim of remarkable success rate, I guess time will tell how true that is.

We have used other recruiters in the past, but never anyone with experience in the tree industry. The rates are pretty much on track, perhaps even just a little lower than some I have spoken with.

With 60 days guarantee I would say don't rely on a quality person and at $2500 you can only think of what they could realistically could be doing or offering.

I think specializing in a real good inhouse training program is the right move these days. Then it just comes down to finding people with good dispositions and personalities which could be in any industry right now looking for a change.

In the future and starting now getting employees will have to be have as much of a focus and skill as was getting customers.

Let us know how it works out for you! Are you also offering any incentives to the new hires or just letting the treemedia company do its thing?

We do some serious in-house training, but we are a small company and out top climber is leaving us, so we need someone right now to replace him. No one else here can step into that role right now.

We’ve been offering incentives of various types, but so far no takers, so the specialist recruiter it is. Hopefully it works.

Good luck my Friend it’s been 16 months of the worst of my career of hiring but finally 2 good guys last week and experienced!
They came by word of mouth.

Good for you! We’ve been struggling to find good help at least that long too, we can’t find experienced help at all either.

I just don't understand how some company it seems none of us have heard of, has some pool of skilled climbers who are either already in your area or willing to move to your area. I don't mean to be too negative here, but placing a lead climber is a tall ask and them 'guaranteeing results' in 60 days is a pretty bold claim....

After personally getting screwed for $10k on a bad contractor to build my shop recently, you got a lawyer on retainer who can look over the paperwork you sign with them first?

I agree, and I have my concerns about the company, but time will tell if they can deliver. They seem to have some solid testimonials, which is worth a little, but they are a fairly new company, about a year and a half old. They’re a spin off of a company that does the same thing for the auto body industry.

I’ve been as careful as I can be at this point, and made sure to make payment with a Discover credit card, as they will refund my money if this turns out to be a sham. If it just doesn’t work, I’ll miss the cash, but I’ve spent more on other fruitless searches, and as a percentage of our gross annual sales it’s really not big money.

I have the same thoughts!

Dude what happened with the shop?!

Dude what happened with the shop?!

*sigh*

So the people were some off-island contractors who said they could make it happen this year, and I believed them. All I'd heard from local folks was that everyone was like 2 years out on builds, and after how the ferries which I rely on to get to work (inter-island travel) have been such a nightmare for the last two years, costing me thousands a month in lost work, I've been pretty desperate to get the ball rolling so I can move to my new property and stop relying on the ferry.

I gave them a $10k deposit to start the process, and nothing had happened for months. They have been 'working' on another project on island for many months which has been a total disaster: WAY over budget, WAY behind, poor work, not sealed up before the rains came, etc. It's like a 5,000+ sq ft place being built by one dope-head framer and his teenage kid, both getting high on the job, while the gen-contractor (the one who I'd hired...) has been out of state most of the time doing other things. They suddenly said they were ready to break ground on my project and deliver lumber and roof trusses, and right away realized I'd better fire them before they started my project, charged me a ton of money, and bailed before actually finishing it, which is what I realized was the likely case. All I've gotten for my 10k is drawings and some lines on the ground, and they are about to hit me with another bill as if they have done dozens of other hours of work... I may need a lawyer, but I ain't giving them another dollar.

And from what I hear, they are about to get sued by the other customer who they are screwing over for breach of contract, so no way they'd be able to deal with that and actually build my shop at the same time, without any good crew and not actually being local...

Sorry to hear
Good luck Sir!

Hit me up if you need a referral. I’m crawling with lawyers right now. One of which is a contract lawyer who I helped out on a local critical area topping issue, and timber trespass thing. He seems to be a really good guy.
