Anyone tried the Click Geckos?

Looking at needing new pads for my Geckos and can’t find them cheap anywhere, so looked up new Distel Geckos and they have a new ‘Click’ option. Had a look around other forums and see them mentioned but no reviews - has anyone tried these, or know someone who has?

Sorry, I had not even heard of them before your post here.

The idea looks decent, but I would worry about getting the foot straps tight enough without being able to pull on them every time you put them on. Maybe I’m a bit funny, but I like to pull mine as tight as I possibly can, which takes more yanking than I think I could do with a pre-adjusted buckle.

No idea, but Cobra Austrialpin buckles tend to stay exactly where they’re set to.
This isn’t always a good thing... in my experience anyways, they can’t easily be snugged up tighter when the buckle is closed, and sometimes it’s hard to close the buckle when it’s adjusted snugly.
Idk how to better explain it, but this is the reason a lot of folks prefer the TreeMotion SuperLight to the OG TreeMotion.
I cut the Cobra off mine and replaced it with a cinch type buckle from Singing Rock.

That was my biggest concern aside from short straps taking a lot of time to get adjusted properly, and making sure the clips don’t dig into the ankle. I wrap the shank for stability too, and want to make sure these straps simulate that well before I dive in and purchase them.

I’ll second that experience. You do have to adjust the velcro each time- the buckles are so that you don’t have to thread the strap through something every time, and so you get a perfect snug without matching hole and tang. They also make release easier, so there aren’t velcro straps loose everywhere. I always wrapped my traditional straps, but haven’t had to since switching. I wear Arbpro evo 2s, which in my experience are pretty bad about slipping, even with wrapping. Since switching straps in April, I’ve not had any problem, aside from occasionally needing to tighten a little once I start climbing; but that’s easy- just pull it tighter and lay back down. No buckle adjustments.

The buckle on the adjusting side doesn’t work like the Tm buckles. It has a roller where the strap threads through. The velcro does all the holding, no friction at the buckle.

Like @Reach I run my foot straps pretty tight, and I am curious if you can feel the buckles on the top of your foot? Also, are those leg pads as big as they look?

I can’t comment on the buckles as I’ve not used them yet, but I too am curious because I all but ratchet strap my foot straps on.

The leg pads on the Geckos are pretty huge, which is a big part of what I like about them. My 200 pounds out of the shower prefers to spread that force out as much as possible, and the Gecko pads do it for me.

I like mine super tight, and have only noticed the buckles a couple times. At first you’ll know they’re there because you’re accustomed to only straps making contact there, but I forgot about them quickly.

Which pads are you referencing, Rico?

All the new Notch gecko pads are larger than previous models. Not my preference, but they’re not terrible.

Thank Crimson.. I figured that you would feel the buckle when running your foot strap very tight. I have found that on both saddles and spurs buckles can bring pressure points. I myself am not a fan of buckles, but can understand why some love them..

I was referring to the leg pads which seem to be on all the new Notch spurs. You just verified that they are in fact large .

Yeah, swing, standard straps work but they feel so... I don't know, standard. The wide and soft Buckingham Velcro straps seem to cradle your whole foot, like a ski boot, keeping the spur shank in place with no need for over or excess tightening.

No you don’t feel them at all, I climb with the arb pros & Arbortec boots, the pads fit me perfectly, other then my elderids, these are some awesome spurs. I climbed on and still do from time to time the caddy pads, just the weight difference and fit on these geckos are superb :numberone:
