tried to open up the muffler last night. Found out the only thing I can do without more instruction is to take out the spark screen and I did. the deflector plate is spot welded to the muffler so I can't easily open it up and see where to drill, if possible. What's going on? the most talked about, cutest climbing saw in the world now and nobody figured out ho to make it run better? The reason I'm so eagered to mod it is that I have a 14" bar on it to aling with the rest of my top handle saws. Anyone out there have any experience modding it? Thx. Erwin

The fastest easiest way to mod the muffler on this saw is to give it some gills with a dremel type grinder. Like this:

Use a flat blade screw driver to open the thin cuts up. Start with the cut closest to the factory deflector then carefully pry the cut open. Make your next cut below the first and pry that one open too. You will need to remove the red factory carb adjustment tabs and retune the saw.

Or of you need to retain the spark arrestor you can first remove it and then get inside the port with a metal burr bit on your dremel and cut through the baffles and bullshit. Come in from both sides and eventually you’ll get a straight shot through from port to port. Be sure to leave a little ledge all the way around to support the screen. Here on the west coast we need the spark arrestor screen in place to work on federal land and it’s just a good idea in a high risk fire area. This method takes longer but I think it results in a cleaner looking mod and less likely to melt your cover.

Thx. I just did mine. I used my smaller 5 amp Dewalt angle grinder to cut the slots, took less than 3 min. I’m not that good with drimel tool. If u use angle grinder like me, us a very small used disk.

Haven’t find time to tune the carb yet. But I know for sure it made a huge difference. First test run proved that it seriously throw off the factory carb setting. Will try to tune it this morning. Can’t wait to hear that little thing screaming.

Is he reputable? I've seen him do terrible things in trees, like falling out of one and continuing to narrate video.

Normally I'd agree, but this is something just about any knuckle dragger can do.

I noticed about a 25-30% increase in power in times cuts.

assuming that I need to take out the plastic adjuster caps to gain bigger range of adjustment, right? with them in place, thee is no difference when I turn the H and L. sorry for the dumb questions

Hi guys
I am from france and have finish the muffler mod on my 2511t.

Can you say me what max RPM you adjust the carb with muffler mod?
Mine is 10 or 15 tanks use

I wouldn't broke the engine with to hi rpm or to lean adjust

Thanks for answer
Jo

I’ve had trouble uploading pics lately too.
Try editing the pic a tiny bit ( I rotate it a little), save the edited pic then try uploading again.

I’m a dummy with computer stuff, but it seems to work for me.

Gotta drill thru the baffle too. If you aim it right it won't burn any plastics. I think I did a 3/16 hole. Pull the limiters and shave the stops too. Mines a screamer.
Exactly. But novices can still get the same results. Might not be pretty.. but the saw will love ya....breathe mofo breathe....
